This pot is very fake in many ways :) might as well put that green sticker on a starbucks mug
When this story of faking stickers actually started?
Were these pots also considered valuable in the 70s? were there a lot of fakes back then too?
or is it a new thing?

Re: Is this a 70s pot?

I am far from an expert, but i have serious doubts about that pot being F1, and especially from that period. Workmanship seems wrong (Lid and Spout), and also very strange white substance making it difficult to see the clay. But i might be wrong. Thanks. I saw very little pots from this sticker per...

Handle, bottom rim and lid don't look F1. Could be wrong but it looks fake to me.
Handle is too thick right?

Re: Is this a 70s pot?

Seems a bit strange that it is very dirty outside and spotless on the inside. Of course that might be possible, as it is somewhat protected, but the difference seems big. Thanks... DIrt is obviously from storage, but if it was stored with the lid on, then I guess its quite possible that the inside ...

Re: How does a westerner learn yixing?

Really sad and terribly frustrating. I have to say that steanze here saved me quite a few times from buying fakes. But let’s be honest , we cant become experts by following that FB group. It’s all about trust in vendors. (And with all the respect to EoT they are somewhat overpriced) The only F1 pot...

Re: Experiments with High-Mountain O

Unless you suck out all the flavour in the first infusion by overbrewing, the tea will last as long as its quality allows. I suspect that this is what I sometimes do. This is why I ask about brewing time. i have recently started experimenting with boiling water, which extract a lot of taste but I f...

Really good quality gaoshan should be able to go for at least 8 rounds, I would say the max is 12, but with last few rounds decreasing in flavour a lot.
Bok, how much brewing time do you give each round?
(I assume you use boiling water)

once I open them, keep them airtight and drink them as quickly as possible;
What does "as quickly as possible" means?
You just opened a vacuum bag of 2oz (~50g) of LiShan. How long does it take you to drink it?

It's a modern imitation of a Zhu Kexin pot. Clay is not good. Avoid.
You might want to avoid very decorated pots and pots with colors other than brown or red at the beginning.
Many thanks!

Tea Storage: Oolong

A friend of a friend who does scientific research on preservation, told me today that there is a very big difference between airtight vessels (which only block most air from entering the vessel and which I assume many of us use to store leaf) and air free vessels which actually take the air out ever...

Re: TeaVivre high mountain

Personally, I will always take a Lishan or Shanlinxi over Alishan, but that is my preference. Thanks Bok. Well, It doesn’t have to be Alishan. But LiShan is always more expensive and SLX is usually something you only find at specialized vendors whose prices and quality are usually high. But we can ...

The price may be attractive but beware - there is a lot of fake "Alishan" in the market.
This is why I ask the community. I know how to find the premium ones. I don’t know where to find the cheaper yet real ones :)
