Re: Morning Crane Tea

There's always all kinds of delays due to the logistics of assembling all the teas from different producers. The last time I made the order, 2017, the tea was shipped only at the end of august. But it was worth waiting. Best to email them to ask about the progress.

Re: Tetsubin cleaning tutorial

Baisao Good point. Things look to be more complicated than it has been reported here. Tannic acid is used in the conservation of ferrous (iron based) metal objects to passivate and inhibit corrosion. Tannic acid reacts with the corrosion products to form a more stable compound, thus preventing furt...

Re: Storage Failure

Inside this humidor, I kept the cakes in their paper wraps only, worried they may develop mold if I kept them in plastic as well as the high humidity, but after a couple of years, given my natural environment, the teas all still gradually run lower on aroma and flavor, leading to the saddening real...

Re: "Neutral" Clays

The effect of most high fired clays is in my experience relatively small compared to the effect of water, to the point I'd have a difficulty telling what effect does which of my pots have (however I have neither the most sensitive palate nor a great sense of smell). And there is no neutral water, u...

Re: Tetsubin cleaning tutorial

greywolf Nice score! It is in a great condition, barely used. Once you're done with the tea treatment, you can just start using it. There is always gonna be a little bit of rust inside, it is ok as long as it is under control. Not sure how much of iron can your body actually absorb this way, but it...

FS: LQER lion & ball yixing teapot

I'm letting go of another large teapot from my collection. Late Qing - Early ROC period yixing teapot in zini clay. - Volume cca 1 pint / 480 ml. - Good strong laminar pour, can drip under the lid when tilted too steeply - Color is more brown then red contrary to what some of the photos suggest - A ...

Great stuff. Good luck!

Some of the links don't work due to extra characters " %E2%80%AC " at their end, but are fine when this is deleted.

Re: Help! Yixing Identification Needed

My only question is - how can the chop really be that similar to the teapot in the British Museum? It looks like the exact same stamp to me It looks as if the chop is printed from the exact picture from BM. If you compare it with another photo of the same stamp from BM taken under a different angle...

Re: Snapped lid knob - Epoxy DIY? Kintsugi?

I would go with some clear slow setting epoxy (not 5 min). Devcon 2 ton epoxy has some good reviews, but I haven't used it yet. Lakeside pottery have some suggestions, but again I haven't tried any of those: https://www.lakesidepottery.com/Pages/where-to-purchase-ceramic-restoration-supplies.html Wh...
