Like you said, order samples of their teas and do your own comparisons. If you’re objective and know what you like, it’s relatively easy to determine value.

My new Chaozhou pot from YS. 100ml. Brewing some Raw Pu’erh from Pu’erh Brooklyn. Fast pour, tight lid, lovely to handle. I’m going to do a side by side with a Gaiwan in the future. The colour is much brighter than the photo reveals.

Spent the day in wine country, which as a reformed wino wine drinker, was a little underwhelming. Afterwards, shared a bowl of koicha with my favorite person, which more than made up for it.
