without even knowing it, I've been celebrating national hot tea day with friends and colleagues all day....first Da Hong Pao from Wing Hop Fung, and now on to Halmonicha from Jeon Yae Yuen.
Mmmm.... hot tea is fine on a very chilly day.

Re: Electric Kettles
I recently bought a Stagg without a gooseneck spout for work. I had a combination that had been working reliably for a very long time, I think it was a Bonavita base and a Gourmia kettle body, and apart from occasional descaling, everything was OK except...no hold mode. As soon as it gets up to temp...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
Finished celebrating the New Year in Tea with a session of Orchid Dew green tea from MaunaKea tea, a special occasion treat that was reliably lovely as always--delicately floral, a little vegetal, and a little leaf goes a long way.

Today started with some Kabuse sencha from O-Cha, fresh vegetables with a little sweet floral note; then a bit of Shan Lin Xi winter oolong from Floating Leaves, rich and delicate light roast tea; and finished with a long session with Forest Genie puerh from Hatvala, a lovely puerh-style loose tea t...
Re: Hagi
It is a subtle piece that I bet shines in person where you can move it in the light as you're working with it and drinking from it, and I bet it seems very lively that way.

That's a striking shibo. The deliberate pinholes look like they lend it an interesting texture as well as being beautiful. it is a favorite that feels good in the hand with a mix of coarse clay, slick shino, matte and shiny textures, curves and straight lines and sharp angles, and it makes a fine c...
