Re: European Teaware

@debunix I love Ondřej’s work, the works he’s documenting on Instagram are incredible and his wooden scoop is on my wishlist too.

European Teaware

Few days back Victoria suggested that I make som photos of teaware of European potters that I have been collecting past few months. So here is a new topic dedicated to European potters. The first pot I am showing is from the last Jiří Duchek’s firing. In this firing Duchek tested 4 different clays a...

Re: Yamada family seal chops and signatures

Yes, you are right the mayake (wood fired) kyusu I think are made with shigaraki clay, not shudei. I have two by Sou and they are lighter than the shudei ones I have. I love using them both with high fired oolong. You might ask Asako Isobe if she has any Sou kyusu. She’s right in Tokoname, has a la...

Re: Yamada family seal chops and signatures

Victoria some lovely pieces you’ve got there. I noticed all are shudei pots. May I ask if they differentiate from wood fired in the type of clay too? I understand they are using Shigaraki clay — or at least Sou does? Mine will definitely be Sou’s as other are a bit too expensive for my pocket. I am...

Re: Yamada family seal chops and signatures

lUKAV28in my opinion i save the money and skip another Hokujo. While I love them I don’t see much point in having several if budget is tight. I’d rather explore a different clay and style. Unless you wanted to go for wood fired Hokujo which can be expensive as well. Overall Hokujo is the affordable...

Re: Tea-things to wish for.....

Four years ago I stumbled upon Yuying Huang‘s chawan lavender field series that mesmerized me. I’m usually not into flashy things but those colors and details are something I would love to dive into and get lost every time I drink matcha. Sadly the Chawan was way out of my league back then and I was...

Re: Yamada family seal chops and signatures

Wow, Bok and pedant thanks a bunch! Maybe I shot these questions a bit impulsively as I was flicking through the thread and found it quite fascinating. I feel quite stupid now as I thought some of Hokujo’s work were on the higher end of the price spectrum (when talking Japanese pottery). I noticed S...

Re: Yamada family seal chops and signatures

Hello, really interesting topic. Just out of curiosity, can I ask what is the average price for jozan teapots today? And which one are most desired I-IV?

I saw Takeyoshi from tokoname.jp is selling or at least had in stock a pot from Sou Yamada, so he is representing the 5th generation of potters?

Re: Mei leaf

I think we are pushing too far this thing with Mei Leaf. Tea drinkers can be really sensitive sometimes. I don’t defend them, I am well aware of their story and controversies — and let’s be honest they are not the only one got caught. I also find their videos off-putting, Don’s presence could be so ...

I bought a sample pack of Shizuoka Sencha Asatsuyu by Seiko tea at Yunomi. Unique and quite impressive sencha. Welcome to TeaForum. Yunomi has incredible access to a huge number of Japanese tea farms and suppliers. How was your experience buying there? Not sure where you are based re speed of shipp...
