Your ideal cup shape for green tea?

I've tried a few different cup shapes for drinking green tea, and the cylindrical type has been my favorite cup so far: Cylindrical + textured grains on the cup: http://www.korin.com/TEC-146_2 I also have this cup that flares outwards: http://www.kettl.co/teaware/ureshino And also this which is a mo...

Re: I don't think this is a patina

The issue was NYC tap water. I've been using solely Poland Spring bottled water since then and the iron-smell problem went away and the teas even taste slightly better.

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Ugh, I'm drinking "Black Gold" from Crimson Lotus. This is my 3rd tasting and I'm still very disappointed. I don't think it's good... unpleasantly bitter and the ripening wasn't done in a way that's to my liking. The overarching flavor is... peppercorn? I regret buying 2 whole cakes of it. I've had...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

I posted this on steepster, but I want to post it here too since the user base doesn't overlap much: I’ve been testing shous with a newly bought (modern) zini pot, comparing it to my current (modern) aged duan ni pot that I’ve had devoted to shou for half a year. Here’s my analysis: The zini is good...

Downsides of using a very fine filter

5D78A5C6-4E86-4B88-8241-73B67CE7BD29.jpeg I’ve been wondering if the tea particles circled in red would be beneficial to drink, which get caught in my very fine filter. The picture is after a session of a lower grade green oolong (it shed a lot of product), but I drink a good amount of green teas a...

Re: I don't think this is a patina

Are you placing boiling water in pot before drying with soft cloth, and placing in a sunny area to completely dry over several days? p.s. I just looked inside my other two stoneware Hokujo pots that are dry. No purple found, but a slight iron scent. I wouldn’t worry about iron scent, it isn’t harmf...

I don't think this is a patina

https://imgur.com/a/UmUSJ There was a green patina forming on the bottom of my pot, which is still visible in the pictures. However, what is concerning me is the purplish undertone that is starting to form both in the very center of the pot and streaks on the inner right of the pot as well. The insi...
