Re: What Green Are You Drinking

Been drinking YS's first flush mao feng, just grandpaing it in a big glass, boiling water, it lasts quite a few refills, bitterness is definitely there but I don't mind it drinking this way, it brings balance to the brew.

Re: Does the bottom piece of a gaiwan have a purpose?

In contrast, the so-called 60ml gaiwan sold by YS is far larger and closer to 80ml. I was under the contrary impression so I measured the ys 60ml one, it's a bit over 65ml filled to the very top, when filled reasonably its closer to 50. I measured in grams of water, my scale isnt the best so I can'...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Having a session of the 2006 tian jian wild sheng from adventure in every cup, it has a mentholy freshness I've found before in wild sheng, the main flavour is overipe fruit, maybe plum. Sadly the storage wore out a bit since I first bought it, it used to taste a bit wetter and it suited it well, no...

Re: Introduce Yourself

Guess I will introduce myself since I haven't yet: How long have you been drinking tea? Since childhood but as a hobby I started 2-3 years ago. What kind of tea do you drink? Mostly puerh and yancha but I have a bit of everything from time to time. How do you prepare your tea? Gongfu or grandpa, onc...

Re: What to brew when having a cold

I'm going through the same myself, been drinking some shus that usually stay in the shelf, the thick broth they produce seems to bypass my clogged pipes, don't feel like wasting more subtle tea in this state

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

A different kind of simple: I'm looking for not too expensive everyday oolong, to brew at work (office or on the go). Most days this will mean 3-5 grams in a large brew basket and my handleless double walled mug (a killer combo in my work bag or even pocket), usually but not always two-three steeps...

Re: Tea farm in Portugal

Wow, very interesting what this couple are doing, out on a limb sort of. The tea plants propagated from seed look super healthy, and smart idea to consult with the Morimotos. So do you think they plan to steam their leaves as in Japanese sencha? I tasted a bit of green tea they made and it was stea...

Tea farm in Portugal

I got to visit a tea farm here in Portugal last month, it's located close to Porto, they are aiming to make Japanese style tea. Part of the plantation is in rows like this using the field that used to be a vineyard with fruit trees on each side (mostly apples and pears), you can see the difference b...

I always take a portable teapot in a padded case and this time I took a set of three Chaozhou cups. Carry a little pu in a pouch and buy water and you're set!
How was your trip? From the news Barcelona looked hectic with all the separatist protests

Re: If you don’t have teaware…

Lately I've been granpastyling more and more when not at home, I've used similar setups for gong fu outside or in non tea enthusiast's houses but not having much success due to the water, the stronger brew grandpa provides seems to be more forgiving of water quality. Maybe I should just edc a cake, ...

Re: Drinking Cups & Bowls: Size and Material ?

I like using a drinking vessel a slightly bigger than the brewing vessel so I can have one brew in the cup and one cooling in the chahai, my usual cup is a short wide one because I drink mostly puer and it cools faster, it has about 80ml useful volume 110ml filed to the top [media]https://www.instag...

Re: What White Are You Drinking

Those leaves look big and so thick that they can handle boiling water. Tea plantations in the Azores, yet another reason for me to want to visit. I designed a house in Barcelona with the client requesting inspiration from Azores dwellings built into volcanic hillsides, all curves, no corners. What ...

Today I had some 2017 Azores white, the flavour reminds me of green grapes, its pretty sturdy I use boiling water and don't feel there is any bitterness there to extract and at high temps the body feels fuller.

Today some casual drinking, some 2016 dayi 0532 grandpa style, I was a bit weary of getting it because it was so young but its by far the shou I drink most often, only have about 50g left from the bing I bought last year, its well rounded and full bodied perfect for no frills brewing.
