Re: Korean Teaware Showcase

Sometimes Gallery Daunjae has some. And a few others to pick from. Ordering was easy and painless, good and fast service. Also seems to me that cross inspiration is quite heavy among Korean potters, so a lot of them use similar styles and methods, so if you are not hung up on Seong Il... Thats true...

Re: Darjeeling tea drinkers - do you have preferred estates?

I am by no means a conossieur, usually get it from a local store so I'm stuck with what they decide to stock each spring come FF time, last year it was monteviot and stendhal, this year it was risheehat. Best one so far was probably stendhal but I assume my local store doesnt exactly get the best po...

Re: Longevity of Tea Leaves: Sustaining Multiple Steeps

If an hour or more will pass between infusions, I spread the wet tea out on a plate to get air. I have often found liquid in a pot that I thought had been emptied of fluids and even found pearls holding liquid inside. I do this to avoid bitterness or whatever else can ruin future infusions. I have ...

I've seen plenty of those, usually in older cakes of sheng or shou. It's from those big woven plastic bags that are used to carry mao cha and tea I think!
+1 see them all the time, have a cake that's just filled with them

I have some identical ones and they all tested positive for lead leaching. The 3M tester was bright red, so not a small amount!

Even in the ones with glazed white insides?
I use some 70s/80s Macau stuff on occasion, might be time to test them

Re: Are your brown/purple clay pots also lonely?

Only own dark zini post as of now :D I find my thin walled one doesnt mute that much so I have had a varitety of teas in it apart from high fired oolongs as originally intended. You can feel some smoothing on young sheng but its welcomed sometimes even if at cost of some high notes. Thick walled one...

Re: Recommended ripes from YS?

I'm fond of dayi ripes, I find that even young they don't have any offensive off flavours, usually keep a cake or two for drinking here and there since they're cheap.
Right now im going through the 2016 aged aroma ys sells and its pretty good.

Re: The Porcelain Thread

Previous piece reminded me, saw a cool looking porcelain pot on display at a museum in Porto, label said 1735, relatively small, perhaps 300ml.

Re: 2007 Shu Favorites

I'm currently looking at some of the Bitterleaf options from 05 and 06. I've heard good things from more than one person about the 05 7581 that bitterleaf carries, good price too, haven't had it myself though. Lately Ive been drinking the traditional storage 2006 7581 tealife.hk carries which I've ...

Re: Yellow Spots on Yixing Clays

Is it really 150ml? that is quite a mistake on the seller's account. Is it sold as 110ml right? (perhaps they mean with leaf). Watery feel sometimes indicates it is very porous...but I guess that it depends on more factors... It is listed as 130ml, pretty sure I measured 150ml filled to the top, bu...

Re: Yellow Spots on Yixing Clays

This pot seems quite shiny, so I would have my doubts in general over the base material. How does it perform? Any noticeable effects for the better or worse? I have the same pot, used it for shu, I don't find it mutes much, a lot more high fired than the couple 90s factory pots I have, it has a wei...
