Re: Tea Factory versus Private Production

I sampled many (bought samples, drank at tea stores, drank at tea houses), and prefer the flavors and body feels of particular boutique labels over the others

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

@debunix Yeah...doesn't look like puerh at all. Do you enjoy the tea on its own merit though?

Had my last serving of some Spring 2019 Chawangshu this morning. Wonderful tea!

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

I am puzzled why they are calling it puerh, when their description suggests that they were not trying for an earthy flavor, which is one of the nicer and more grounding aspects of puerh for me. Hmm...I'm pretty sure that the current official definition of Puerh (per the Chinese government) requires...

"Stupid mainlander" isn't meant to be taken wrong.
If that was not your intention, then it's really unnecessary to propagate a stereotype.

Saying "I'm not XYZ-ist but..." is still XYZ-ist.

Re: Buying Pu'erh for the long haul

I think a lot of these decisions really come down to personal preferences. I would start with thinking about the common aspects in the teas I enjoy drinking. Another important factor not to be ignored is whether your preferences will change over the years. While the very high end fresh puerh are mul...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Had Gaoshan gushu 2018 and 2019 on consecutive days. The sweetness was more pronounced in the older cake.
I then switched gear to Qing Teng for a late afternoon treat. It was decent, but failed to remind me of why I purchased a cake of it...

While I agree with you in essence, the poster did say between A yixing pot and A cz pot :lol:
Yes he said it, just writing this for the sake of everyone :mrgreen:

All joking aside, I couldn't agree more of what you had expanded on ;)

@klepto
I still haven’t tried any of EoT 2020 lineup because I’ve spent all my tea budget on Yiwu Mountain Tea 😆

@DailyTX
There are a few tea houses in the Bay Area where you can sit back and relax, but I usually just get together with a few friends at home (pre-COVID time).

Re: FS: Wistaria's Hong Yin & Lan Yin

OCTO .... I keep reaching for Zi Pin and Tai He when I’m in the mood for Wistaria. ..... That's an interesting statement. In the mood for Wistaria, for me would mean wanting to be in a teahouse drinking tea with people I like. Certainly that would be a better way to enjoy tea! I'm hoping we can fig...

Re: FS: Wistaria's Hong Yin & Lan Yin

OCTO Hard to say. I guess these teas didn’t stand out to me. I keep reaching for Zi Pin and Tai He when I’m in the mood for Wistaria. I’m very much in it for the Qi. As for the wangong tea, i bought it because I like fresh wangong (1-3 yo), so I wanted to try a more aged version for comparison. Fre...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

I made the mistake of throwing 7 grams of leaf into a 80ml gaiwan and the raw puerh already had some astringency. Wew lads, it kinda ruined my morning :( Uh oh! Quite a strong brew there! It happens - good time to move those leaves to a bigger vessel or take some out. I should have done that, that ...

Re: My first sheng experience

Same here. I pretty much gave up all other teas and have gone exclusively pu. Prefer shou but trying to brew sheng better? I recently bought an oolong from same company that I bought pu from. To ME green, sheng, and oolongs all have the same basic taste. OK not all shengs, but young shengs. That's ...
