Re: NY Times article about beautiful tea

Only last week, I did a virtual private tea session with one of Wu De's students. It was fantastic! Very meditative and spiritual. I have to ask, was that person a model too? j/k Honestly I don't think the message they're sending is bad. I like the Taiwanese oolong I got from GTH. Bok I have ...

Re: Making fake tetsubin water for cheap - just add iron egg!

Interesting product. Thank you for sharing! I'd be more careful about the plastic kettle getting melted by the egg though, since iron can get really hot!

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Still super busy with work, but managed to brew up some bohetang huangpian '19 and YQH chawangshu '06 while fighting my keyboard When I am working from home battling with work on a busy day, I would usually brew up a larger pot (grandpa style) and let it soak all day. Refilling with hot water along...

Re: The Essence of Tea

Chadrinkincat I don't mind the young sheng -- the more the merrier! However, I have to say I'm not always a fan of their tea club sheng, which is okay. ( July was fun, but the tea was meh.) The draw of the tea club for me is the surprises. The EoT offerings have been decent, but nothing has r...

TeaTotaling Thank you! Though I wasn't getting any promotion--just more work, less play, and same pay :? Glad to see you're active again after that short break from tea ;) I guess we got our duanni pot at about the same time. This benshan duan is currently my favorite pot--it just adds such an inte...

Re: Yixing

What difference do you feel it makes in the resulting tea? I like to use it with all black Hongcha, so simple ones. It makes it more dark chocolatey and less hay, barley and stuff like that. For JJM and other finer, more fruity black teas, I use a Gaiwan. I have yet to explore this pairing. I often...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Been slammed with work in this past couple weeks but still managed to fit in a couple sessions of Gedeng Gushu. I did a little comparison of the autumn and spring harvests from 2017 to 2019–it’s quite interesting how certain notes have deepened in just a few short years. Lovely tea!

Re: How to explain pleasant bitterness

Is the pleasant bitterness you're referring to the kind that turns into a subtle sweet taste? In Cantonese, there are two types of bitterness. 苦 (ku) and 甘 (gan). Ku is the pure bitter taste, and Gan refers to the bitter taste that turns into sweetness after the bitterness subsides. For me, 100% pur...
