Re: Chaozhou/Shantou

I’d suggest buying a standard shape CZ pot from a reputable vendor as a proper hands on way of learning about CZ clay. Agreed. Just I would not even know who to recommend for CZ pots... I got my modern one from China, but I have not seen this quality offered online. Maybe Tea habitat since they’ve ...

Re: Chaozhou/Shantou

Could this one be a Chaozhou teapot? The style of your teapot reminds me a bit of Nixing Qinzhou pottery, or its imitation. Sadly the quality looks not very good. (Just for comparison https://chinbeetea.com/product/nixing-qinzhou-clay-teapot/) Thats what I was thinking too. I’ve been noticing a lot...

@Pieter W.

I’d suggest buying a standard shape CZ pot from a reputable vendor as a proper hands on way of learning about CZ clay.

The only thing you’ll learn from the 2 pots you’ve posted is what not to buy again.

Re: All about silver

I believe this is a pure silver mark for Japan but I’m not 100% confident. Anyone familiar with it?

Re: For Shui Ping lovers with small pockets...

FWIW, this is the QSN I just bought from Emmett. Definitely a very nice pot. https://scontent-lax3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/57775145_10215314252781901_897390234898006016_o.jpg?_nc_cat=107&_nc_ht=scontent-lax3-1.xx&oh=b7024568a5defefc14436f5e0556a3a2&oe=5D2A00ED Nice pot! I was eyeing that one. I lik...

Re: Chaozhou/Shantou

Yes, I think so too. Too thick and rough for being an antique. Weird style as well. Also lots of more than one item usually mean that each on its own is too rubbish to be sold... typically CZ is rarely advertised as such, either by mistake or because not known enough. Glad you agree. Handle and ove...

Re: Chaozhou/Shantou

Hello Bok, thanks for your answer. I know what you mean. I like to buy antiques but I have to see it, feel it and so on. I find one in an auction (it is mentioned as 'Yixing') together with 3 other teapots (Yixing). It was fragile and graceful. Schermafbeelding 2019-04-23 om 19.44.36.pngI will thin...

Re: Funky Contemporary Yixing?

Update: The mystery has been solved! This is a repro of a pot by famous Yixing artist Chen Guoliang. Nice craftsmanship, but not in the same league as the master. :P http://www.zisha.com/product/915.shtml?fbclid=IwAR2IEGdQu6JGVUMzhxLe93j4ENE3ZX_2BtO9fCMFwe6HTLoBURVLoamHi3c I think I actually prefer...

DIY. Not worth a professional $200 repair unless it’s 60-70’s.

Re: For Shui Ping lovers with small pockets...

Nice enough pots but to be honest I completely agree with BOK.

Pots like these are still gonna be readily available in 5 years with minimal price increases.

Re: FB groups for Yixing?

Bok I think the main objective would be for people outside of Asia to share the pots they are collecting along with general zisha discussions about vintage, antique, fully handmade and artistic pots. There is little need for F1 authentication. FB group already has this covered. No discussion about ...

FB groups for Yixing?

I’ve been pondering the idea of starting a FB group for western zisha collectors. I’m not sure there is a huge demand for one but I thought it might be fun to see what other US/EU people are collecting.

Anybody know of any FB groups started by western yixing collectors?

Brent D yes it is difficult from far away and with so little available information in English. One solution - move over here, once you can molest and fondle the real thing, it gets a lot easier, not to forget to have good and trustworthy friends! You’re right to focus on the leaf, yet I t...

Re: Chaozhou/Shantou

Ok, thanks for the answer. Can someone help me with some pictures of CZ teapots? https://www.google.com/search?q=chaozhou+teapot&tbm=isch&hl=en-us&chips=q:chaozhou+teapot,g_1:chao+zhou&client=safari&prmd=simvn&hl=en-US&ved=2ahUKEwjzqfadsZjhAhXuQd8KHTAGCqsQ4lZ6BAgBEBk&biw=320&bih=454 You can see the...
