Re: Yi xing thrift store score??

Looks like modern copy of ROC duanni cups. You often see them with crackle glaze interiors. Like this one which I believe is ROC. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 3980720065

@DailyTX

Nice score! Where did you find this pot? Looks very similar to one I saw on auction recently.

Re: Anyone know what this is??? (plastic in cake)

This is the Blue Mark from Global Tea Hut. Would you consider this a low quality puerh? I was assuming it was better quality based on suggestions on this forum but maybe they just meant “I like the taste” and not necessarily vouching for the quality of the tea? I’ll have a better idea after I try a...

Re: My Puerh Order (all samples)

I’ve only had 2 puerhs. One loose ripe and one raw pearl. The ripe was extremely refreshing like fresh mineral rich soil. The raw was like a puddle near a sewer drain...with a small carcass floating in it. I loved the ripe immediately and the raw quickly grew on me after the 2nd session...rotting c...

Re: Yixing

This may sound dumb, but can you actually distinguish 60s hongni (ok, i know there are several hongni clays used in that period) from a white label hongni based purely on the appearance of the clay? Not dumb. Yes, you can tell from the clay. Actually only one type of hongni is used in the 60s (well...

Re: Yixing

mudandleaves It’s always good to be skeptical, but what sorta proof do you need? A certificate of authenticity from potter that made it? So and so’s (Dr. LV) opinion holds a lot of weight imho seeing as that person is considered a TW authority on older yixing. I sorta assume at this point you’ve ne...

Re: Yixing

It is not the real deal, but it looks nice. It has been made to resemble the real deal. It could brew good tea. Thanks! Yes, would’ve been surprised otherwise. It does make good tea and seems to be developing a shine quite quickly. Variations of this pot are currently sold by some well-known vendor...

Re: KingTeaMall

Doesn’t look painted/coated. Clay has quite a few iron dots and looks to me like it’s a coarse mix of different clays w/ iron oxide added. I’ve actually been eyeing this pot even though I don’t normally buy modern stuff. Overall shape and details looks inspired by 70’s pots. Good point about the ir...

Re: Mei leaf

This thread has really gone off the rails.

Getting seriously ill/cancer from low or mediocre quality tea is highly unlikely unless your somehow able to drink 10,000lbs of laced tea w/o realizing how crappy you feel every time. 🙄I’m not loosing any sleep over the occasional pot of sea dyke.

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

XG 05 T8653-1 I’ve been drinking this one pretty much every day for the last couple weeks. It’s a decent tea but in its current state I’d say it’s a tier below the FT version. Less TCM incense and a bit more bitterness. I’m guessing this one will be at a sweet spot in another 5-10yrs so it’s a serio...

Re: Mei leaf

I think it’s very interesting how many forum members are reacting here. Almost as if they were angry with MeiLeaf. Still...only 1 person mentioned anything remotely specific about their tea. I’ve heard a lot of suggestions for Seven Cups inparticualr the Biluochun. I have been unimpressed by SevenC...
