Re: NYTimes Article: Increasing Prices of The Great Wines
Never had two buck chuck? I wouldn't necessarily call it good, but it is wine. And not as bad as you might think for the price.

Re: Free Shippng
Also from marketing research that online buyer / consumer is not focusing on the value ( and consequently the price ) of the actual product but more than likely on total price has to be paid ( means incl. the shipping ) . That leads some vendors to run those free shipping concepts. You are correct ...

Re: Discount means Failure
The notion of "discount means failure", while once generally true, hasn't really been the case for a long time in the retail industry. Take, as example, JC Penney, a once-well-known retailer in the US. They offered such frequent discounts that their customers stopped shopping there except during sal...

Re: Caffeine reduction in tea
Gradually consume more caffeine, build up a tolerance, and become less sensitive. There is something to this concept, having partially grown up in Brazil and Argentina and drinking strong espresso / cafézinho my caffeine tolerance is high. This approach worked for me. For years I only drank decaf t...

Re: Mei leaf
ML appears to be offering free shipping for first orders over $70. I am tempted to order a range of samples to see what the big deal is. For what it's worth, in past years they've offered both free shipping and discounts for Black Friday. I suspect they'll probably do the same this year. So, if you...

Re: Do you eat any snacks with your tea?
I'm not sure I would consider it a "snack" but it's customary in Japan to serve sweets with matcha.

Re: What are your favorite places to buy online?
If black teas are your thing, try https://www.vahdamteas.com/ . Regular prices are IMO a bit high for what you get, but they run some decent specials every now and again. If you're willing to go outside your comfort zone I second the suggestion earlier of https://www.o-cha.com/ , which offers some g...

Re: Is refrigeration for Japanese green tea necessary?
I guess my experience has been different from everyone else's. I've never refrigerated teas and haven't noticed any loss of flavor in unopened vacuum or nitrogen filled packets even for many months after purchase. How do you store your opened tea packages? Airtight tea tins, but once opened I'll dr...

Re: How long does it take for oxygen to ruin tea?
I imagine it depends on the amount of oxygen. In a ziploc-resealable package or airtight storage container teas seem to stay good after opening for a month or two, probably more if you're not opening it every day to brew a cup. Disclaimer: my observations are based on sencha, not oolong.

Is that possible in any meaningful quantity? Even organic teas use fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides, they just use organic-acceptable ones.

Best By Date
Most teas have a "best when used by" date on the package. But how accurate are those dates? Wondering what peoples' actual experience has been with different types of tea. Do the best by dates understate how long a tea is good? And does it vary by type? My own experience has been that teas tend to b...
