Re: What Green Are You Drinking

Shi Feng Long Jing from Hojo. This is one phenomenal Long Jing (the best of all the Long Jing I have tried). 7 infusions + 1 cold overnight brew. Still trying to decide if I should go with Akitsu oxidation or Carbonized reduction clay (both are superior than a neutral vessel in bringing out the comp...

Re: Ode to the Kyusu

My latest acquisition: Oxidation Sado Akitsu Mumyoi Kyusu by Watanabe Tozo. Volume: 140mL. I had two Watanabe pots before and both were plagued with poor pourability. This one is an improvement, but still slower than the rest of my pots. I widened the filter holes a bit. Average full pot pour time i...

Re: Ode to the Kyusu

thank you for the suggestion. I'm curious as to why you think darker teas wouldn't be suitable. Cause that's what I'm going to brew next in this pot :D, a few black teas I just got from Hojo. The clay is porous will absorb tannins in black tea. p.s. if pots haven’t been used yet you might soak them...

Re: Ode to the Kyusu

Rebuilding my collection. The first 3 have just arrived :D. From left to right: The Rihi Mogake made by Konishi Yohei: This is the biggest teapot in my current collection, 340mL. The Rihi (pear skin) finish was accomplished by mixing manganese chunks with the white clay. This finish extends into the...

Re: Ode to the Kyusu

I'm a noob; I have not had the pleasure of trying a tea Japanese, but from what I see all their oyas for elaboration they are so big and with so much capacity? I say the average capacity is about in line with the Chinese teapots. Smaller than 100mL is not that common on either side for sure. For sm...

Re: Show Off Your Pots

Victoria, the most recognizable one to me is the Shigaraki on the front, but now that you mentioned it, I can see the whole middle row is full of Hojo pieces :P (possibly 8 there). The reason I asked about the white clay teapot is because I just got my dream Konishi Yohei pot, and it's also a white ...

Re: Show Off Your Pots

Very nice collection guys! I don't feel so bad for having owned more than 3 teapots  I'm surprised though to see very few teapots from Hojo. The guy constantly has some new types of magical clay that I want to try :D @ Victoria, I'm curious on the brew quality of that white clay teapot you have...

WTB: Hojo teapots

Looking to add some more teapots to my Hojo collection, preferably with the clay I don't have. I want something 150mL or smaller. I have Shigaraki, Banko, Kobiwako, and Akitsu Sado. Thank you.
