Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
I heard that the 2025 harvest had perfect weather conditions, and the taste difference was apparent! I was curious since a lot of the high elevation gardens have been decommissioned by the government... according to AI, the 104k label in the name is just marketing since the actual elevation he lists...

2025 Spring 104k Da Yu Ling from Tea Masters.
Thankfully before I took a long tea break, someone asked me for my specific brewing parameters I had worked on years. Looking through my old messages saved me a lot of experimenting.

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
I've been having 2024 Sparrow's Tongue Wuyi Oolong from Verdant Tea. For a yancha that's only 50 cents per g, it's pretty good! I bought it as an add-on to the "Milk White" Gongfu Brewing Set, really nice thin porcelain that I'm happy with. Thin but retains heat very well at the beginning. I have so...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
Drank more of the 2021 Yesheng Hong Cha I had posted about about a month ago... the difference now is that I've been drinking tea regularly for the past few weeks. I find it a lot less appealing, though I don't really fault the tea, I think my tastebuds are just different now. I found it hard to di...

Tasting notes:
2023 Shan Lin Xi - Definitely has very similar low and mid range flavor notes to Da Yu Ling of years past, floral and soup can get pretty thick. Tasty!

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?
I tried the same water with 2023 Shan Lin Xi and the mouthfeel was thick as it should be, so the thin mouthfeel was due to trying a new Taiwanese black tea.
Anyway, will keep experimenting

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?
Certain levels of TDS actually make for better tea — I can’t use filtered tap water for brewing my usual teas which are usually at least $0.50/g because the taste would be pretty flat. Otherwise I might as well drink something cheaper because it would taste pretty similar. Trying the Nice! Iceland P...
