Re: Green oolongs losing flavor within 2 weeks of opening

I asked Stephane from Tea Masters about this problem and he sent me this answer which I thought was informative: ..... 2. Not all fresh Oolongs are processed the same. Even if they don't go as far as roasting them, the better high mountain Oolongs are well dried and come with a slightly higher oxid...

Re: Green oolongs losing flavor within 2 weeks of opening

I asked Stephane from Tea Masters about this problem and he sent me this answer which I thought was informative: Green Oolongs are also called fresh Oolongs for a good reason: what is fresh and young rarely stays that way very long! Since these Oolongs have not been roasted, their moisture content i...

Re: Green oolongs losing flavor within 2 weeks of opening

Something else I've noticed is that not only does the flavor significantly degrade after a few weeks, but that the teas also don't seem as caffeinating.

Green oolongs losing flavor within 2 weeks of opening

The oolongs were picked in spring 2018 and now it's November. I've made the mistake of opening a few different green oolongs and noticed that their flavor degrades rapidly, within 2 weeks they start to taste somewhat generic and lose most of the subtleties that made them high quality. Is this a norm...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

I'm drinking Shizhuo oolong from Alishan picked in Winter 2017 from Teamasters.
This tea has a really nice and flavorful aftertaste, but the initial taste in the mouth and while swallowing isn't very good to me. What a shame since I wouldn't buy this tea but it does have a really great aftertaste.

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

I'm having a Tian Chi oolong from Tea Masters. I've never had this kind of Taiwanese oolong before. For my first impression, I like it a lot! Lightly grassy aroma with a somewhat hay/vegetal flavor, very reminiscent of a delicate green tea but with none of the sharpness a green can have. It has a v...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

I’m having semi wild Baozhong from Tea Masters. In my 3 years of heavy tea drinking, it’s my first oolong I bought more than 100 grams of because I liked it so much (though I would buy more of the DYL Ethan sent me if it were available). Most teas I sample and like end up being sold out by the time ...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

I rinsed the Baozhong this morning which made it much more floral, I'm having it again now without rinsing and the florality is just a background note.
Still trying to unlock the secret of rinsing oolongs...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

I'm drinking some more of the semi-wild Baozhong from Tea Masters. After drinking Ethan's DYL for an entire week, the intense florality of this Baozhong is somewhat shocking to the palette. These 2 teas are both nice but in different ways, I think I'm going to host a tea meetup and brew them for oth...

Had two really strong and satisfying 80s sheng puerh while exploring and admiring a late 50s Bamboo pot and a late 70s Flat Belly Pot. The tea had a very long lasting huigan and still packs a punch after so many years.
Take me with you next time, lol :D

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

Yes I've tried 1m, but I tend to have a personal preference for a stronger flavored tea. Usually 1:20 is the shortest I steep Taiwanese oolongs for and those tend to be Baozhong which aren't rolled into balls.
I'm always willing to experiment though.

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

The tea has a light floral note, a nice thick body, and a surprising lingering note of cherimoya. I am really happy to read what you taste. Great example of different feelings about one tea, since I did not think "thick body" (nor thin body). I also cannot remember whether I have eaten cherimoya so...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

I'm having a very pleasant morning session with Dayuling courtesy of Ethan Kurland . Thank you very much for willing to part with this tea. The tea has a light floral note, a nice thick body, and a surprising lingering note of cherimoya. Such a pleasant and sweet after taste, I hope I'll still be ab...
