Dont do Shang, i was disapointed by them.
I am going to Fu Ding in a few weeks, if you send me some money I can pick you up some stuff.
Yes I was disappointed by Shang too. If the silver needle is of similar quality to the one you sent Roy L & me a few years ago then yes I want to get some.

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

How are are you heating water on your trip? Hopefully not hotel kettle :) . Yes :D Yeah, a bad kettle will ruin even mediocre water :) . Here at my mother’s without realizing, I was using a copper bottom kettle that had oxidized and I couldn’t figure out why my teas tasted off, even when using very...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

I’m having more sessions with Tea Masters 98k DYL and Ethan Kurkland’s DYL, but with different waters than I’m used to. I’m in LA right now and it seems like Poland Spring isn’t sold here. So I’m trying some Western brand waters that I normally don’t use. It can be hit or miss. Arrowhead wasn’t very...

I can only speak for myself (though I thought this applied to most of us) but I almost never use a timer.
The scale doesn't have a timer, it has a stopwatch. I find using a stopwatch to be helpful for precision in knowing how much time has passed for a better session.

Re: Gyokuro recommendations

I would say you are looking for low range... good gyokuro can get very pricey. Aside from aged puer, I think gyokuro is one of the most expensive tea types. https://kettl.co/collections/gyokuro-green-tea/products/shizuku-gyokuro This is my standard "daily" gyokuro. It's $32, but for 50g. But I pers...

Re: Is my sun tea safe?

Maybe not. Cold brewing is assuredly safer.

Also a tincture takes a lot longer to make than a few days if that’s what you were attempting.

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

I've drank 100g of Da Yu Ling in the past 2 weeks. One from Tea Masters - DYL 98k, the other is Ethan Kurland's DYL. Both are very good and it just boils down to what kind of session you want to have. Tea Masters' 98K DYL is light, airy, and has a basil flavor. It is rather easy drinking and its si...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

Last year I had DYL from both of these vendors too and I had different tasting notes. I don't think I tasted basil in either last year. I remember last year's spring harvest from Ethan tastes like mango or cherimoya to me. It's interesting seeing the yearly changes in teas that you become well acqua...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking

Shine Magical how did you get a hold of Ippodo’s special gyokuro, since they only sell from main office in Kyoto? Putting feelers out, maybe someone in Kyoto can ship to us as a group :D . Actually maybe a few of us should just write to Ippodo and see if we can pre-order... I’m happy to do that. Th...

Re: Mei leaf

Mei Leaf is well known for using shill accounts to market itself online, creating threads much like this one devoted to Mei Leaf as a single vendor. This works best on Reddit, where the posts move fast and there's a higher chance no one will post about their low quality and past ethical problems. In...
