Re: Anyone try Silicone "gourd" for Yerba Mate?

Food grade silicone can withstand get high heat; it's even to bake in. The benefit over many other materials is that it won't rot, split, crack, and doesn't pick up of flavors.

Re: Yerba Mate Advice

Regarding how to drink it, a French press will suffice but using a bombilla (filtering metal straw) is much better. As nice and traditional gourds/horns/wood are, I like the silicone mate I mentioned in another thread.

Re: Yerba Mate Advice

With stems ‘con palo’ is stronger, without stems ‘sin palo’ a little milder. . I think this is backwards. While I really like Canarias and Rosemante Especiale, my current favorite by far comes from Goyerbamate.com. Their organic unsmoked Itapua (sin Palo) is fantastic and has virtually no powder.

Re: SHINCHA 2019!

I should note that I bought and used the Sae Midori (and another deep steamed tea) a few years ago but just brewed it in a mug with a very fine mesh basket strainer.

Hi,
I'm about 30 minutes north of Boston. The Hario has a large metal mesh strainer basket.

Re: SHINCHA 2019!

I'm more of A Chinese green tea drinker than Japanese tea drinker but all this buzz about the special Sae Midori has me considering giving it a try. I own a Hario 300ml glass kyusu and a 4 temperature Zojirushi (208/195/175/160). Would these suffice to make a good set of infusions? I view Japanese t...

Re: Your favourite Jasmine? Where to from here?

I've had several types of Jasmine tea from both Tea Trekker and Teavivre. My favorite based on taste and aroma is Jasmine Silver Needle White Tea (Mo Li Yin Zhen) from Teavivre. Based on looks, 28th the Dragon Pearl or Mo Li Yin Zhen from Tea Trekker.

Re: Anyone try Silicone "gourd" for Yerba Mate?

For the amount of Yerba that I use, I couldn't find a small round-interiored steel cup. I use a bombilla with this silicone "gourd" and it works great.

For anyone interested, I bought this http://www.goyerbamate.com/store/p/1037 ... Black.aspx and it's fantastic for the office. The size and shape are great and cleanup is a snap.

Anyone try Silicone "gourd" for Yerba Mate?

I prefer to avoid using a traditional hours at work for mate. Has anyone here used a silicone one? What are your opinions? They come in a small and large size and in considering the large, 14oz,size.
