Re: Green Tea Vendor Topic

Trying to order from lifeinteacup.com. Their email address is bouncing back, but the website is still up - does anyone know if they're still in business?

I know it's a vendor, but they were my go to for Chinese greens, so I'm posting here.

Re: Your favorite Dan Cong vendor?

I can't speak to those Dan congs specifically but I enjoyed the traditional tgy's sold by W2T. And also liked a number of other teas I've gotten from him. I've tried them both - definitely the genuine item. Not sure if I prefer their Xing Ren or Cindy Chen's, they're good in different ways, but the...

Re: Notable Tea blogs

Definitely one to add to the list! But he (or she?) seems to make some controversial statements on clay, which a lot of other experts can agree on. Most notable some red clay from Japan that performs as well and better as Yixing clay... he (akira hojo) for sure has a lot of interesting and controve...

Re: Spring 2018 Chinese Greens

I've not loved Yunnanese greens, myself, but was blown away by the huangshan mao feng & anji baicha from "life in a teacup" - highly recommend checking out his 2018 offerings.

Help shipping from Japan?

I'm on the hunt for an urushi-nuri (Japanese lacquerware) tray. I found one that I absolutely love, but the site doesn't ship outside Japan. Does anyone here live in Japan, and could order & mail this for me? http://online.timeandstyle.com/shopdetail/000000004262/

Some really good stuff at http://www.teageek.net/blog - often grounded in science, and always careful to distinguish between his opinions and verifiable facts. Infrequent updates, these days, though. I think he's busy writing a book?

Would be interested to see things on tea science from a chemistry, rather than agricultural, perspective.
Media/ News, Publications & Research/ Research Corner: Interesting Journal Articles is meant to cover that area.
Apologies, must have missed it.

Just placed an introductory order, shipped to 12484. I'd certainly welcome any samples, particularly of the orange blossom oolong, puer, or anything else you think I shouldn't miss. Welcome to the forum!

Re: Reasons for not recommending vendors....

1g per 50ml is also the basis for competition brewing standards (3g/150ml or 5g/250ml). Those are steeped 6 minutes. I typically use about that ratio when brewing non-gongfu (western? :?), but steep for maybe 3 minutes, 2 or 3 times. It seems to work well. So maybe the vendors you describe are just ...

...zhengshan xiaozhong (lapsang souchong)...another place to buy it and compare? i second wildisthewind's recommendation. i haven't tried that one specifically from her, but her black teas in general are solid. hojo also has a decent one Well - I'll "third" the Cindy Chen suggestion.
