I almost snagged that pot but I couldn’t justify buying another bamboo pot.

Mark-S
Not sure what that carved pot is but I actually like this one too. What is on the lid?
@Chadrinkincat
I see, in that case, you probably seen this chop to know it’s a square bamboo haha

Re: Yixing

bliss and Mark-S I find the internet is only helpful on identifying chops that are fully written out in modern Chinese characters. I wish there is an App that decipher calligraphy. Here is a chop that I have been puzzling lately  ./download/file.php?id=8471 Is this the larger size bamboo pot w...

Re: Yixing

A sideways anecdote: recent price I saw here for a 60s Hongni Shuiping 12-cups. Asking price the equivalent of 1600USD! M e n t a l . I knew these large ones are sort of rare, but that price is not worth it. For that price I can get a nice antique instead... yes those are steep. I might even consid...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

OCTO You seem very comfortable blending your tea. To me, blending tea is like those masters making puerh recipes. One needs to have some vision of the end product. With enough knowledge of your tea and control, you make a blend that enhance the original product. I read people in China are still try...

Re: Yixing

Andrew S Yixing clay is not a pure raw product, and changes could happened in any step. Recently I was looking up heixingtu/black star clay from early to mid 80s F1. I own 3 of those pots, each pot has different color shade, about the same texture, the characteristic meets the definition of how thi...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Another night of OCTO's quirky Puerh Blends... hahahaha..... this time round late 1990s shou puerh and 2006 sheng.... very energetic and smooth blend... Cheers!! ./download/file.php?id=8313 OCTO I wonder if you have noticed a trend to blend Sheng and shou puerh? I have only seen a few places do tha...

@Bok illegal harvest is a serious issue in China and Southeast Asia. I remember you mentioned about this topic when we were talking about tea tray.

Re: Tea utensils

@Bok beautiful tea pick. Since you are in Asia, have you consider picking a few small Zitan woods to play with? 😉

Not a relatively old pot, but the clay has been decently aged before making it's final journey into the fiery kiln.... hahahahaha...

Cheers!!

Re: Yixing

I follow the same approach as Dr. Lv, I will only comment on pots people own upon request by the owner. Actually, I was thinking that we should implement that as general forum policy. Maybe something to ponder for the admin’s I just wanted to comment that steanze and Bok along with other seniors ha...

Re: Yixing

How to tell whether a teapot has been colored with chemical additives or by reduction firing? Take this teapot, for example. I think the color (black) comes from additives. Would you use a teapot that looks like this? Yes, I own this pot. ./download/file.php?id=8191 Mark-S With dual color pot...

Doesn’t look like an F1 pot to me either.

Clay sorta reminds me of a couple modern pots I’ve own.
👍 definitely feels differ than the F1 pot I own.

Re: Yixing

Bok here are a few more photos with natural lighting that captured this pot's color. It's high fire, medium thickness, and appeared to be mold made. ./download/file.php?id=7947 ./download/file.php?id=7946 ./download/file.php?id=7945 Can’t really say much, but it seems modern to me.
