Re: Tetsubin
This is the lid of my tetsubin. The interior looks fine and only slight red spots as I expected, but my lid keeps getting redder and redder. It had the lacquer on it like the exterior has. And yes, the interior is not coated. I also make sure to leave it to dry and i always check to make sure it is...

Its purpose in Yixing has to do with after firing the pot for the first time, the craftsman would use silicon carbide paste to sand the pot opening for better lid fit, and then fire the pot for the second time. Here is a video ...

Re: Trying to find a certain tea as a gift
The tea seems to be Anxi TieGuanYin. Anxi is a county in China. The specific manufacturer will be difficult to find. Good luck tracing the manufacturer.

@StefTeaPot
Try to boil it with tea, slow simmer, and don’t wrap the teapot fully with towel so the wax can float on top. Good luck cleaning

Re: Help for getting into Heizhuans
Hopefully this is not too off topic. Balthazar What do you think about ZhongCha fuzhuan? Would this be an good entry to Heizhuans? It wouldn't actually be an entry to heizhuans at all, since heizhuan and fuzhuan are two different types of tea. (It can be confusing, since "heizhuan" sounds like it m...

Re: How do you prepare your samples?
Is pu really that sensitive? Have not noticed such huge differences. Also, if it is to test a tea to determine whether to buy in bulk, is it not better to submit it to worst case scenario to see how it is on its worst day? Puerh is sensitive to temperature change especially for Sheng, just from per...

Re: How do you prepare your samples?
Resting seems to be the general consensus. I typically use a zip lock bag to store my samples for a week or two before tasting the tea (assuming puerh). I try not to add or subtract anything so I can determine if this is a tea I would like to buy more or not.

Re: Help identifying or any info on this pot
Rickpatbrown if you do get a chance to visit Asia, definitely drop by a tea shop or two just for the experience. Tea shops in Asia will let you play with most teawares before you buy, and they will feed you different teas until your bladder cannot handle it anymore lol. It’s almost like you walk in...
