Re: Yixing

I've heard people here talk of teapots singing upon pouring boiling water into them. I guessed it was resonating sound meant there, but now i noticed that when i pour boiling hot water into a rather porous teapot it starts singing beyond that - high pitched fizzling in the background plus a ringing...

In particular, we only select specific tea trees that growing condition is ideal.
Quote from Hojo's page. Sounds like its not ONE tree but a specific type of tea tree
Quite misleading indeed...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Just tried the Wistaria Lan Yin that I picked up from pantry . I brewed with quite a bit of leaf because I wanted to see what this tea is about (7.4g/100ml gaiwan) For tasting notes, I mainly get jujube/ woody notes in the beginning and middle infusions. It reminded me of the Love Forever Paper Tong...

Justin something modern and a bit rough in the workmanship. Don’t think there’s much more to it.
Cool, thanks!

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

I started with sheng and couldn't get enough of it for 8 months or so...then I tried some decent shou and this is has been growing on me, to the point where I'm now preferring it to sheng. Although I feel like I'll swing back or at least go back to 50/50 between them. Lately I've been drinking shou...

Re: Aging puerh: what is your setup?

Should I put the pumidor back in the basement? I moved it up hoping to bump up the RH a few points from 63 avg. but as it’s dropped I’m thinking I should just leave it in the basement What's the temperature in your basement? upstairs? From what I've read, I would go with a little hotter (upstairs) ...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

2005 Bulang double lion, since you were talking about it :D. Very prominent qi for me. Almost as if I close my eyes, I would be deep in a meditation session. I brewed in a gaiwan and got quite a bit of the Malaysian storage. It smelled musty and tasted musty at first. After a couple steeps, it opene...

" …The other mold situation is storage of puerh tea in plastic containers, such as plastic tubs. Plastic has no ability to breathe. There is no air flow, no cracks or anything porous. Re: Aging puerh: what is your setup?

Also, I see a lot of plastic in the pictures above. Is that to protect the cakes from each other (if one gets mold) or something else? Are they completely wrapped in plastic or just layered with it? I would guess they are just to separate out layers within the crock. @Balthazar can provide more inf...
