Re: 1950 era occupied Japan aged green tea

What is everyone's general definition of "aged"

What is the difference between aged tea and tea that has been sitting in a closet for a number of years

Re: Your ideal cup shape for green tea?

For chinese greens since so much is in the complexity I enjoy using wider cups like the fish cup. (the flavor cup wouldnt load for me)
I find it spreads the flavor out and allows you to catch subtle notes.

Re: Huangshan Maofeng

Love reading your notes. Glad you liked the Qimen. Yea the Shexian lost alot of what made it really special. I think its because so much of what made it special was in the aroma which is usually the first to fade. I recently found a Fu Xi I liked and am considering switch the she xian for the fu xi ...

Re: Huangshan Maofeng

@Sweetestdew How many steepings do you usually expect and what brewing parameters do you typically use? I felt from the charcoal baked for example I got about 5-6 very high quality steepings and a drop off beyond that. Roughly 120ml of water for 4g. Loved reading your tasting notes. I tend to use t...

Re: Huangshan Maofeng

I have been keeping up with this page and loved reading everything. I thought I might share my own thoughts on these teas. All of the tastings where these notes are from are on my instagram @sweetestdew I used a medium sized gong dao bies (no gaiwan) with about 4 grams of leaves. (I eyed it) I used ...

Re: Huangshan Maofeng

I would love to talk with you to help you better understand this tea and help you learn what to look for as you search. This would be good, I'd actually just purchased the sampler pack from you before I read this too :) Haha well you'll be happy to let you know it went out yesterday. I'll send you ...

Re: Huangshan Maofeng

Glad to see some interest in Mao Feng. I live in Huang Shan and have been focusing on this tea. I would love to talk with you to help you better understand this tea and help you learn what to look for as you search. There's a lot of bad Mao Feng out there and to be honest they are usually pretty eas...

May I ask where you got that tea? Did you source it or did you buy it from a company.

Video/Article about Hou Kui Making

I spent two or three days in Hou Keng making Hou Kui baked over coal. I didnt get much footage because I was helping make the tea but I added an article explaining the short video I made.

Just to clarify: First pick green tea is not always the best

This morning I came back from Hou Gu which is in the core region of Huang Shan and produces a Mao Feng that was really loved last year. I was there April 1st and the first thing the guy who makes the tea said to me was, it's too early. They were picking tea, they were making tea, but the tea was too...

Re: I made a video on Huang Shan Mao Fengs being on the market too early

I just drank Huang Shoul Mao Feng sent to me by Sweetestdew. 2 grams steeped in 120 ml of 96C water for a minute = flavorless. 2nd infusion steeped for 2 minutes = flavorless. Tasted the tea from the bag I sent you from, you're right the flavor is completely gone. Mao Feng is subtle, but that was e...

Enjoyed reading your article and watching your videos Sweetestdew. I’d better finish my stash soon. What is your favorite way of steeping Mao Feng? Great reportage, keep it coming and thank you 🍃. I am glad my articles are enjoyed. I was taught that gong dao beis are the only way to brew greens and...
