Opened a Sae Midori pack first, really hit the spot
Curious to try the uji kirameki soon too, been a while since I had some asamushi and this seems to be a good one
Thinking of trying a couple asamushi along with the usual SM this year, was eyeing the Uji Shincha Kirameki, sadly only epacket to Portugal so expecting a bit of a wait.
One thing to consider is that although a Japanese thing, a lot of Tetsubin are actually mass produced in China. Seeing that yours is missing the Urushi spot of a properly cast Tetsubin, it’s possibly one of that kind. Oigen is a decently known japanese brand, yes its mass produced, its a company th...
I'm curious how you both find if it has much of an effect on your water and how the pour is on full boil. Think it might give some body and maybe some sweetness, didnt do AB tests or anything though. About the pour when its boiling im not sure, I use it more or less like an electric kettle, turning...
gatmcm: Thanks for the photos, looking good! I ended up ordering the H200 after all.
Hope you enjoy it!
The shipping is indeed quite fast, they use DHL express, mine was delayed by a day or two by customs asking for some details and it still arrived in under a week.
gatmcm thank you for the Amazon.co.jp recommendation. It seems there’s a lot more to browse aside from tetsubin Yeah theres a lot of teaware to browse though the search is a bit temperamental, some stuff pops up easier if you search using japanese characters, some if you use it romanized others sho...
How much water do you find you can fill the H-200 with, before overspilling when boiling becomes a problem? Do you mind sharing a few photos of yours? :) (It's this one , no?) Yes it is indeed that one, it is quite small, probably 700ml usable, I boil without the lid too or with it tilted otherwise...
Seeing as a few people here are looking for more affordable tetsubin, even considering other cast iron items, i thought id share what me and a few tea friends went for. Amazon.jp carries quite a few affordable mass produced tetsubin, Oigen brand seems to be the most common, some of them are inductio...
I dont flash steep puerh, I dont find it benefits it much, if it is very compressed I give it an extra long first steep, like one minute or so then shorten it to taste for the following ones
I'm enjoying an infusion of Dosim Dawan So-Ip-Cha from Morning Crane Tea's Korea tea buy. I adore these lovely artisan Balhyocha's that Arthur sources for us: fruity, plummy, floral, a bit earthy & spicy, long-lasting through multiple infusions. I've been enjoying this one both hot and cool brewed,...
It's been 24 hours and so I checked it. My room humidity is 87% but inside the box it's 74%. i get that humidity is high where you live, but is visible mold a real concern with natural storage there? since there would be decent airflow, i'm wondering if your tea is actually at risk from high humidi...
gatmcm what’s it taste like? Can you describe it? Looks good! I dont really do tasting notes, but from memory it was quite sweet, good balance between more aged dried fruit notes and some youthful sourness/tartness, aged notes were somewhat similar to a 2003 mengku brick I have that I quite enjoy s...
2012 mengku sheng was a lot further along than I expected Also worth noting that for some of these factory teas they seem to just use their supplier's/factory pics thus my (pleasant) surprise at how far along the cake was My cake: IMG_20190728_162008.jpg ktm's pic: 35971362810_1483bca6cc_z.jpg
Can also recommend, I have ordered 4 different cakes/tuos by now, inexpensive semi aged factory stuff, and I'm quite happy with the storage, even my latest purchase of a 2012 mengku sheng was a lot further along than I expected, I bought it as an aging experiment but I decided to just drink it as is.
I finish my sencha sessions by pouring in room temp water and having it a few hours later, can be repeated but i usually dont go past a couple, have it in the morning hot then after lunch and mid-afternoon cold, some teas work better than others, so far the best for this treatment has been sae midor...
