Re: 2023 Shincha Harvest tea recommendations?

Honestly I tend to just brew in whatever kyusu I am in the mood to use. I really don't think my taste buds are discerning enough to start distinguishing between clay types.

Re: Ode to the Kyusu

My latest little addition to my work setup. A 140ml Gyokko yohen kyusu with kushime https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1094058410200281101/1106078605152374784/kyusu.jpg Sesame filter? Looks like a fast pour. I have not timed it but it is relatively quick https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1...

Re: 2023 Shincha Harvest tea recommendations?

Welp... After waiting a bit and looking around I ended up pulling the trigger on a few items from Yuuki-Cha (who are offering 13 items at posting). I didn't really have anything particular in mind this year, and it's been quite some time since I've thrown some business their way, so I figured, "Why ...

Still browsing sources and trying to decide. There's just so many choices out there. Anyone pull the trigger on stuff yet this year?

Re: Blends vs. Single Origin

This is quite similar to discussions people have regarding single malt whiskies vs blends. Single malts can be hit or miss based on a variety of factors but good ones can be extremely good. Some people look down on blends simply because they are blends and there is no chance to find that rare unicor...

Re: Japanese Green Tea: Aged, Roasted, Fermented

Just cracking open a bag of the organic genmai hojicha from Yunomi. I love genmaicha so I figured I would give this a shot. I am not disappointed at all. This just might be my new favorite cold weather campfire brew. When it's brewing the roast of the hojicha and genmai combined almost reminds me of...

Some of my other luxurious hobbies include whisky and wine tasting, cigar smoking, and cooking. I've also been trying to unlock the secrets of Daoism for the past couple of months. Welcome TeaFox269 . I also am an avid whiskey collector and enjoy a fine stick now and again. And I totally understand...

Re: Is now a good time to try Japanese teas?

As others have stated... No time like the present. If nothing else it will give you time to find what you like so that once shincha season rolls around you can narrow down your search.

Soooo much shincha.... Soooo little money.

Re: What Green Are You Drinking

Today I was rummaging through my tea and I found an unopened bag of last year's Farmer's Shincha from Hibiki-an. Still seems to be pretty good so this will probably be my daily drinker for the near future.

Re: Favorite Teas for Grandpa Style?

Dresden that's reassuring and also a relief... In general, I'd like to ask if for grandpa, are people pouring out the brews separately or just drinking from the cup/flask? I personally sip it from a mug once the leaves have settled. When there is about 1/4 to 1/3 of the liquid left, top it off with...

I like Global Tea hut elevation and ruby red. But also boll rolled oolong works quite nice.
Name an oolong that isn't ball rolled these days
Challenge accepted... Oriental Beauty, Da Hong Pao, Rou Gui, Dan Cong, Jin Yao Shi

Re: Collecting "falling out of love with pu'er" stories from Blogspot

 :broken_heart: These stories are very sad, and yet I feel the same way. I've loved Kentucky Bourbon for a long time and every night I'd drink a nip or two and sleep like a baby. Seeking out various mash bills and looking for different profiles. I lost my love for Bourbon and picked up puerh. ...

I like Islay malts with oolong !
As a fan of a good Islay are there any particular oolongs you like to pair? I would imagine it would take something pretty heavily roasted to stand up to something like an Ardbeg.
