Re: Green Tea Vendor Topic

Qingming has come and gone, and I still don't have any spring 2025 green tea. It looks like Bitterleaf has a BLC this year, along with Lapsangstore, Sweetest Dew, and Teavivre. Seven Cups hasn't been able to post their 2025 lineup yet because it's stuck in customs. This will be the first year in a ...

Take a look at the work of Inge Nielsen. She’s in Belgium and makes beautiful functional teaware. https://ingenielsenpottery.com/

Re: teapot search - recommendations?

https://ingenielsenpottery.com/shop/ Is a potter with her own shop. The pot I purchased, which is not just beautiful but also functional, is porcelain. Some pots are stoneware and that fact should be in the description of the individual pot.

Re: How to tell if Puerh is "spoiled"

I didn’t intend to age the tea, which is why I didn’t plan a suitable storage environment. I thought I would become an enthusiastic puerh drinker but instead I focused on Japanese and Chinese greens, and yancha. I was encouraged by your response and that of aet to begin a testing process. If I don’t...

How to tell if Puerh is "spoiled"

I've been going through my neglected teas and in some categories - all the yancha was good enough to drink even if it was past its prime, last year's Chinese greens ended up in the compost, the whites are probably fine. In all categories other than puerh I can make decisions based on taste. I have a...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking

While I wait impatiently for the 2024 harvest version of my favorite Japanese greens from O-Cha to become available I'm trying something new (to me). Kettl has a Roast Club Subscription: a different Fresh Roasted Houjicha every month. It's a premium tea roasted in Brooklyn, NY and mailed out immedia...

Re: Ergonomics of classic teapot designs

I have an yixing pot with a round knob. I use the knob to hold the lid in place when pouring, but I hold the sides of the lid when moving it on or off the pot. It’s a 75 ml pot and this approach might not work as well with a larger pot. There are little yancha crumbs scattered on the cloth - that’s ...

Re: 2024 Chinese green tea thread

I purchased several of the early teas including two kinds of longjings, and they’re tasting so-so to me no matter how I brew them. I think it’s a change in me rather than the tea but the test will be when I turn to anji bai cha as that and TPHK are my perennial favorites. I’m craving teas with more ...

Re: What's your tea of choice when you're sad?

I’ve been having a really hard time lately because I have 2 serous problems that are difficult for me to resolve. Since I haven’t been sleeping well lately I figure it’s a good time to enjoy an evening tea session and maybe find out see that evening tea sessions don’t exacerbate my sleep difficultie...

Re: 2024 Chinese green tea thread

Seven Cups has two new teas on sale this week - First Pluck Bi Luo Chun and Lao Cha Yuan Ganlu (Old Garden Sweet Dew). Sometimes more of a particular tea is available again later but I’m “addicted” to getting the new teas as soon as they’re available. Seven Cups teas are not inexpensive but I like t...

I have a Horoku, a pot I bought to re-roast tea. I’ll try brewing my unintentionally aged genmaicha before roasting it.

Re: 2024 Chinese green tea thread

The past few years I’ve purchased all my Chinese greens from Seven Cups. What they’ve been doing is offering a 20§ discount the first weekend they offer a new tea or teas. Of course I always end up buying enough tea to get free shipping! I like to space out my purchases so I can drink the tea soon a...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking

i've enjoyed multiple tease from them over more than a few years now, and they are my go to for Japanese greens when I have a craving for something that is not part of my Obubu Tea Farm subscription. I particularly like that they have some Tseun teas That are otherwise very hard to get, because Tse...

I bought a pot and cup and Darbotek packed them very securely and shipped them quickly. The Yinchen Duanni pot arrived in immaculate condition and goes very well with my white teas.

Re: Ode to the Kyusu

It seems there's a lot of information on buying Yixing wares for beginners, and not much on Kyusu. Anyone who has been collecting, using, and selling Kyusu would like to chime in on what you are looking for in a kyusu aside from a certain artisan and aesthetic of the piece? :) I think the following...
