Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Aged Da Hong Pao from Old Ways Tea. I emptied the whole 8g bag into my shibo and gave it a quick rinse, poured into a side cup, then brewed 45-30-90-120-180-300 infusions before pouring in water to steep overnight. Incredible tea that evolved from the start to the end. At first it was immensely bitt...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Victoria, my friend Everest and I drank the four dong ding from Floating Leaves's blind tasting box, and we found most of the teas improved at a slightly lower temp (~200-205°F) than boiling. This matches what I have discussed with others about Taiwan oolongs wanting to take it just below boiling. D...

Re: Dong Ding "Blind" Sampler and Live Tasting
I'm surprised! I thought B was the most different and unique, with a slight sour note I'm more familiar with in tieguanyin. Thank you for this tasting box! Looking forward to the next one!

Re: Your day in matcha
I started with Sugimoto America's ceremonial grade, and while that was quite fine, I decided to up the ante a bit. I splurged on some Breakaway Matcha with a flight of their three entry-level grades "Blend 93" through "Blend 95" plus their top, "Blend Daphne". Although too expensive for my place in ...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
Puttabong First Flush 2018 black tea - dry leaf smells heavily of dark chocolate, nice! Wet leaf is sweet and a little smoky per my gf's nose. Liquor is a lovely, bright, golden hue and smells honey - fruity sweet. First taste a little bland... one note... but the more and more I drink it... the bet...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
You're right - the Halmari Assam is the one I meant, not the Nepali black. Tonight's choice is the Castleton white. I started at 185 for 15s and got nothing. I was worried it was the tea or something I did. I tried 4 or 5 infusions before it dawned on me that I couldn't taste anything because I had ...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
I drank some 2018 Singbulli Estate First Flush Darjeeling from Yatra this morning and came to ask why it was so green, and here the vendor is talking about just the same thing! Mind you, I only used 2.5g in 100ml gaiwan, which might be too little, but the liquor came out yellow. Maybe that's to be ...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
I purchased one of the medium grade sencha from Hibiki-an and have been doing 5-6g with 200ml in a kyusu, but reading the recent posts here it sounds like I should up the leaf to water ratio. Hibiki-an says to go 1 minute 2-3 infusions @80°C / 176°F. A tea friend of mine who only drinks Japanese gre...

Re: Type of Green Tea that has rice taste
I just received some tea from a friend in Korea that is made with brown rice, 현미제주녹차 (brown rice green tea) from Jejudo. It tastes like the burnt rice at the bottom of a pot after you cook rice, very tasty and the brown rice quality is high. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/29297156704908083...
