Re: Grad student questions on tea practices in personal life and business!

That was really fun. OP, are you gonna post the paper when you’re done with it? I’d love to read it!

Re: Glass teaware from Japan

I bet it is mesmerizing to watch the leaves in the slow internal currents after filling with water from the kettle. Yeah. That’s one of the reasons I bought it. I have been wanting a nicer neutral teapot for a while but I just loved the idea of being able to see the leaves float around. Lol I actua...

Hot tip, the building next door to them has free parking in their parking garage. The building under the Five Guys. It is never full. You’re welcome.

I'll probably go with winter green oolong because regular green tea is likely a while away still.
Get thyself over to Floating Leaves! They are awesome, and close to you also.

Re: Glass teaware from Japan

Okay, here’s the promised video, and also a better pic that captures the way it shifts to blue in the right light. I’ll post another pic of leaves floating in it when my session is done.

Here’s the video https://imgur.com/gallery/3RQL93X

It does dribble, but no more than a drop.

a large part of the tea experience, in my opinion, is about using and training one's intuition.
My mom is always asking me how long to steep her black tea and I can never tell her because I always do it by smell.

Re: Has anyone every drank tea from a well seasoned yixing?

To get over that perception factor, you might try to concentrate on definable aspects when doing side by side comparisons. Such as where is the taste recognizable first - on the tip of the tongue, or deeper in the mouth. How is the flow of the tea - stocky or fluid? Does the tea point downward, or ...

Re: Has anyone every drank tea from a well seasoned yixing?

IMHO the piece of teaware that matters most is the cup. Trying the same tea side by side with different cups will reveal a huge difference between them. Yeah I never do a side by side with different cups cause of that. Ironically, I am 99% certain that the biggest part of that isn't the cup itself ...

The difficulty with water however is that water for tea needs some minerals to bring it alive, just not too much of it not to flatten the tea.
See this is what I'm curious about. How do people who steep their tea in RO water not have really boring flat tea?

Re: Coronavirus

They did not even have a disease control body to deal with an epidemic, they are just building it now! Really? That's crazy. Are they building it now as in response to the coronavirus, or were they just starting to create it when this happened? Sadly, the former... and they have an especially high ...

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?

I've heard about that place. I've actually thought about it as a solution for when I move. Just get like a five gallon carboy and fill it or something. I'll have to check it out sometime. Edit: Hey! it's only ten minutes from my Grandma's house! Edit 2: found the official website http://www.alderwoo...

Re: A bit of gossip about TC...

it was probably a random Google search for tea-related things when I was bored. That's how I found this place. I had been getting back into tea after drifting away from it for a few years, so I went to join TC because whenever I googled the answers to questions I had, TC results would come up. I jo...

can you please share a pic of a tea session with it sometime? i'm curious to see it in use.

also, how's the pour? does it resist dribbling along the outside of the spout?
I'll post pics and video when I get home. Pour is good, I didn't really pay attention to dribbling, I'll update later.
