Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Drinking Floating Leaves 2022 Spring Diva, and it is fabulous, one of the best teas I've had in awhile. It's heavily oxidized, so it's very fruity and almost tropical with deeper darker notes throughout. If tea was music, this tea would be a lovely bass voice. It tastes very sweet, especially on the...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
This is a great description: I tried gyokuro for the first time today! .... It was like I’d been drinking fat free milk all my life and someone gave me half and half to drink. My first experience with it was not so immediately satisfying: when tried with the infusion parameters suggested as part of...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
I tried gyokuro for the first time today! Got it from Thes du Japon, the gyokruo from Asahina, Saemidori cultivar. It was so rich, thick and viscous. No astringency, almost no bitterness at all, almost the suggestion of bitterness at the back end. It was very smooth and in that way it reminded me of...

Re: Earl Grey and its children
I have infected several friends and family members with my favorite flavored tea, the Earl Grey Bella Luna from Adagio. They only sell it on the day of the full moon every month. Delicious, creamy, coconutty goodness. I gave my roommate some and she ended up buying an entire 16oz bag of it, and spre...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Drinking some tea from Floating Leaves, their Dong Ding Traditional A. I got this a couple years ago and it sat at the bottom of my tea box, forgotten until now. It's juicy, jammy, warm, and roasty. I think the resting time has been beneficial, the roasty flavors are nice and soft, but still very pr...

Re: Your day in tea
Drinking my way through a sencha I got on Thes du Japon, from Yame, Yabe yamakai cultivar. I'm really enjoying how dynamic the flavor is, every time I drink it, I taste something I didn't taste before. I think part of that is me for sure, and I'm definitely having an off day (woke up with a stuffy n...

Re: Tea when sick
I also like chamomile when sick, and if I have any ginger or lemon, I'll add a small squeeze of lemon and a piece of ginger chopped into matchsticks in as well, with a bit of honey to coat my throat.

That happened to me too. Great while fresh, but don't really age well.

Re: Value of tea recommendations
Personally, I think it depends on the sort of recommendation. It’s one thing to recommend a particular tea , and another to recommend a vendor. My own tastes will differ wildly from that of others, and as others have mentioned, genetics and water will also factor in. Meaning that trusting a recommen...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
My order from Thes du Japon arrived and after an agonizing decision I have broken into the Genmaicha first. This is the first time I've had Genmaicha, and oh WOW it's so amazing. How is it so tasty?! All the lovely sencha flavor but TOASTY. This has become a new daily staple tea for sure. Also eatin...

Re: Your day in tea
Do you think people were more curious to try it, or less, once they found out? Hahaha I don't think it changed their opinion of the tea...but they thought I was even more crazy after I explained all the steps required to make it, how people age it, and how the environment its aged in affects the fl...

Re: Your day in tea
If people see my teaware, they will at least giggle. If I were to gift tea, they would think I am one step closer to requiring professional help. :)  At least they don't think you're doing drugs...funny story several years ago when I was still new at my company, I had a big cake of unusu...

Re: Your day in tea
Went to Floating Leaves today, and picked up a bunch of new tea! I got some Four Seasons, their GABA oolong, the ”Tradional High Mountain” which is slightly more oxidized than most gaoshan (I’m most excited to try this), and the Gui Fei. They threw in a generous sample of the competition style baozh...
