Re: United States ISC (USPS)

Customs at NY is an absolute nightmare. Like half the packages I get coming through there get held up from 4-6 weeks. Last thing I ordered (a teapot) was on black friday in the US (end of November), and things were totally silent from NY Customs from December 8th until January 31st. What a joke they...

Re: Sheng and shou puers stored together

Seconding the above poster, certainly where it can get cold and dry in the US that might be recommended. I'll also add that I wouldn't store sheng and shou together. Unless you've got some really old mature sheng, once their profiles have sort of started to converge...even then I'd rather keep them ...

Re: Coronavirus

I think that is when you'd start referring to other statistics such as confidence intervals. There are extreme examples of different aspects of viral infections all the time, this does not mean they are the norm or should be the basis for policy. For example, in my direct area of expertise, Zika vir...

Re: Coronavirus

It’s concerning that cruise ship passengers docked in HK only quarantined for 4 days. The initial estimate for incubation was 14 days, now moved up to 25 days. Why release people only after 4 days when it could take 14-24 days to appear on PCR tests and false negatives are abundant with PCR testing...

Re: Coronavirus

In a sense it's odd we're not hearing people discuss the issue of what Chinese people are going through. They've extended and broadened the New Year's shut-down until the 10th, and of course things are creepier in the epicenter where all vehicle traffic has been shut down. That part is really kind ...

Re: Coronavirus

Too true. Chronic sequelae are not followed up on too much. I'm truly sorry your family was treated that way. I can think of some more recent work showing longer term issues after WNV in the mouse models we use in the laboratory and efforts to understand why. We were also trying to get funding to st...

Certainly not the first I've heard that re: anthrax scare, Baisao. Those gentlemen would certainly know better than I though.

Re: Coronavirus

Viruses like this one are not stable. If coronaviruses were non-enveloped viruses (lacking a plasma membrane), then I'd be much more worried! Those are *much* more stable outside of a host. It would be nigh impossible for a coronavirus that uses a human entry receptor to infect a plant cell. If tea ...

Good tea is for everyone 😋, even scientists!

I agree with that latter statement as well.

Re: Coronavirus

Well, We may as well talk about it. Its all over the news in the west. Id love to hear from people living abroad, as our news outlets are...questionable. Whats the word out there in the world. Ill admit, I am not ordering any tea until this gets resolved. It’s triple all over the News in Asia I can...

Re: Has anyone else found their diet influences what tea they want to drink?

Yunnan tea farmers are always surprised when I bring some vegetarian tea tourists ;-) Our friends there prepare nice meat rich meals to treat our customers with free range organic running around the village food ;-) and I'm usually ending up eating it my self only ..need to give them "mian zi" ;-D ...

Another vote for deep steamed. Light steamed sencha is pleasant, but fukamushicha just has a certain rich factor I crave.

Re: Please some advice on Dancong

Part of what makes Dan Cong challenging, at least in my experience, is that its a very finicky tea to brew. It doesn't really do well western steeped or grandpa style. Gotta gongfu and lock in the right steeping parameters. I've had some exquisite dan congs from Verdant Tea but I usually just buy s...

Re: Please some advice on Dancong

Might be cheaper to just come to Los Angeles for one of TeaHabitat’s monthly tasting at 25$ for 10-12 teas. She does sell samples of DanCong also. I’ve been to tastings a few times, she steeps her teas Very light, like a whisper. I hate to say it but depending where people are, flying to LA might a...

Re: Please some advice on Dancong

The vendor recommendations here are on point. I will say though that even within a given vendor, dancong can be hit or miss, even at similar price brackets: having tried a few of the teas at teahabitat I would gladly pay for some sold at 2.5$/gram, but others sold at $2.3/gram are a hard pass for me...
