Re: Taste and aroma exaggerated?

Hi jaybo , welcome to the forum. As others have pointed out, the brewing parameters will have major impacts on the end cup. Finding the parameters that best suits your tastes and the particular tea leaves that you are using will be trial and error. Also, using volume to measure tea leaves (i.e. 1 ta...

Re: Hokujo, Kobiwako & Iga Clay

Janice Yes you are right. I see the direct hole filter picture at the top of the section listing. Thank you. faj Thanks for the input on the ball filter. Sounds like it'll be fine...and if it wasn't then I'm sure they would have stopped making them long ago. I was referring to the fine sasame filte...

Re: Hokujo, Kobiwako & Iga Clay

I'm hesitant in getting a kyusu that has a ball filter rather than the larger flat filter...both ceramic/clay and not stainless steel. I feel the smaller ball filter will clog easier and slow down or halt the pour. The Hojo tea pots dont have any pictures of the filters so I may contact them to ask.

Re: Hokujo, Kobiwako & Iga Clay

+1, genmaicha will influence your sencha brews. I'd use glazed teaware for genmaicha, at least until you have a leftover pot to dedicate to it. No experience with the Kobiwako (want to try it!), but I think it'd be also very reasonable to go for a simple pot from Tokoname as your first sencha pot (...

Re: Hokujo, Kobiwako & Iga Clay

Is everyone still enjoying their Kobiwako pots? Looking to get a kyusu to use for genmaicha and sencha and thinking about a Kobiwako from Hojo or this one from Klasek Tea . It looks like the filter holes on the Kobiwako are quite large while the other is finer. Would recommend you reconsider using ...

2016 W2T TeaDontLie: Really nice overall. This is a nice mellow-ish, fruity, floral brew. Later steeps bring out astringency.

[WTS] Jian Shui clay tea canisters from Yunnan Sourcing

I am selling 3 Jian Shui clay tea canisters I purchased from Yunnan Sourcing. They are clean and have no smell that I can detect. They have been clean and empty for the last year or more. They are approximately 5in H x 4in D (~13cm H x 10cm D). The second picture has an unopened 200g puer cake for s...

Re: Looking for new tea tray recommendations

I recently picked up a new tray because my old one was falling apart and was too small to begin with. I was looking for a ceramic base one, but went for a cheaper bamboo one because it was available locally. While its nice being able to brew very wet if I want, the problem is its also what starts t...
