Re: What tastes good? Us and Them:

@Dresden - Wow that is really cool teapot. At first I thought it was a French Press for coffee ;) Thanks for the suggestion of using Kamjove style teapots. Yes, I risk coming off as both a snob and eccentric with my iddy biddy Yixing teapots and 'different' tea :) I am stuck in my way or the high w...

Re: Ripe-Raw blended cakes

aet - Thanks for sharing youre experience...sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I had no idea that raw-rip blends were a Cantonese thing...learn something new every day here. I have never delved into the dark side of shou....so I probably should try some first. Peurh Junky has a semi aged ...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

@gatmcm - Thanks for sharing your impressions of the 2006 as well as the source. I noticed the price difference between the 2006 and 2005 too...quite a difference. @Balthazar - Thanks for clarifying the details in regards the three batches of the iron version of 2005 8653. I am not knowledgable eno...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

@Victoria - That tasting sounds wonderful, I only wish that I had been there as I love HY Chen's teas from chofmann..but have not yet tasted any oolong from Tillerman. I am sorry that you are dealing with water sourcing woes due to humidity. Makes me appreciate having a well as it makes for more co...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

@mrmopu - I don't remember there being any info on which pressing the cakes were at King Tea Mall. I think it was an order placed by a Japanese outfit with CNNP..which CNNP turned over to Xiaguan to makes...then the order was cancelled and another buyer took it...I may have the detals wrong. There ...

Re: What tastes good? Us and Them:

@Ethan Kurland - Good luck at the International Fair....I hope you get some interested folks. I like your idea of brewing at your place, especially as a 'tea pro', people have a chance to observe and see if that brewing method is for them. Which teas are you going to brew? I get the dismayed reacti...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

tingjunkie - Thanks for the review of the 2006 Changtai Tian Xia Tong An ....certainly on my list of teas to tryat Yunnan Sourcing. I think I remember you mentioning liking the 2003 Changtai "Yi Chang Hao" more...but not for the price. Would love to hear your impressions on the 2003. Speaking of Yun...

Re: What tastes good? Us and Them:

@Ethan Kurland - i like your idea of sharing...I should do that more often. The biggest obstical for me is brewing...most people out here are solidly in the tea bag brigade ;) How do you suggest brewing to your friends...do you go infuser route or encourage them to try gong fu cha style brewing? I ...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Back to the 2005 Xiaguan 8653....I too, have been wondering about the different versions of the 2005 8653 offered at King Tea Mall. Do the higher priced versions reflect better storage history??? I need to re-read the discriptions. Speaking of Xiaguan, Norbu has the lovely 2004 Xiaguan Fang Zhuan ra...

Ripe-Raw blended cakes

What do you think of cakes that are a blend of ripe and raw pu'erh? Are these blended cakes just a mix of raw and ripe pu'erh..or are they a different process entirely? I am curious becuase I never see any articles or discussions about these types of cakes. Please share your experiences -good and ba...

Re: Does anyone collect English teaware?

@ mbanu - My has gotten into English teaware although she probably has as many reproductions as originals and wouldnever consider herself a serious collector. I tend tostick with Yixing teapots because they come in convient (for me) tiny sizes like 40 ml...i have kidney disease and cortisol issues ...

Re: What tastes good? Us and Them:

I wish that there was a way to connect the 'us' and 'them' more easily. My non tea drinking husband and milk-with-tea drinking sister could not understand why I would spend mulah on an incredible 1980's CNNP Yellow Mark sheng. They tried to be supportive..but my husband kept asking '..so what else d...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

@Shine Magical - No I have not. The only YQH teas I have had are the 2004 Dinji Yesheng and the 2005 pure old tree quafengzhai huangpian (Emmett has this on his site). I would love to hear your impressions though :)

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

@Shine Magical - Emmett kindly provided a sample of the 2004 YQH Dinji Yesheng along with my teapot order :) My experience was similar to Jame's at TeaDB....here is the link to Jame's review..it is an excellent review and reflect my experience with this lovely tea. https://teadb.org/2004-yqh-dingji...
