Re: Porous/absorbing clays and high roasted teas

How about chens heavy roast dong ding that everyone raves about? Thats considered high quality by all, right? Good enough, yeah. I do remember being disappointed when first ordering it a couple of years back. Then I asked someone about it. Turns out that same person had specifically ordered that ba...

Re: Porous/absorbing clays and high roasted teas

I prefer a lighter roast, I will always try a roasted tea out with a high fired clay, but if I find the roast overpowering, I will use a dark clay. Ive had plenty of teas that people here would call "high quality" that end up in my zini Maybe those people did not have the „other“ high quality to co...

Re: Recommendations for a newb

I would start with big and classic factory puerh like Menghai tea factory or Xiaguan tea factory. 7542 is the most famous puerh sheng recipe from menghai, but you should also have some of their shu puerh recipe (7572?). But you should purchase puerh at least 6-7 years old. For Xiaguan jia ji sheng ...

Re: Please some advice on Dancong

I have spent a good amount of time trying to source quality DC. Nothing I have been able to get ever holds a candle to tea habitat. I am currently working my way through about a dozen different samples from hojo, but im afraid Imen has ruined me. Do be careful when looking for "budget" Dancong. Dop...

When does the gaoshan spring harvesting begin? I heard it will be a little late this year due to weather. When should we expect to see it start hitting the market?

Some great thoughts here, and my stance remains unchanged.
Nothing will make you more cynical and un-trusting, than being a westerner and trying to collect yixing

Re: Ageing Zhuni Clay

Which brings up a point... Everyone always says that a true Zhuni must be from before factory era pots. Looks like a real zhuni could be made, brand new tomorrow. How much clay is out there? Being that there is no way to "prove" that clay is zhuni, how can we tell if a modern pot is made from old st...
