Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

It's not so much my choice as the tea's, if it was up to me I'd drink puer in all seasons :) I find that most of my sheng puer go into a sort of hibernation mode in the late autumn that lasts through the winter. They simply taste more flat. It may be connected to the fact that the indoors temperatu...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

2003 Henry Serious Formula (Taiwan storage) - might just be the frame of mind but this is really hitting the spot today. Probably the best session with it so far, its brighter today than it has been recently.

Drinking puerh on a empty stomach is a good way to get a quick and easy colon cleansing :|
Mostly young sheng though I'd say, no?
I used to scoff at such statements and had all manners of tea on an empty stomach for years... until I had some young xiaguan one morning. Never again!

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

There are a few exceptions that do stand out, but for the most part I concur. Non-inflated pricing makes them a good regular drinker. I was drinking this today to decide if I want to get more and I think I will. Out of curiosity, what are some of the better ones you've had? I've been through most o...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

2005 Changtai "Yun Pu Zhi Dian". Same overall assessment as the post above... I find it hard to distinguish the different 15-20 year old Changtai teas I've had. Never really spectacular, but always reliable. There are a few exceptions that do stand out, but for the most part I concur. Non-inflated ...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

XG T8653-5 thick paper. Needed a bit of a kick this morning to get focused. Good now but needs some more age, I'd love to see what this will taste like with another 3-4 years of hotter storage.

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

But you've interested me in sourcing in Taiwan. I am planning to go back there very soon. Is there a specific place you can recommend for purchasing in Taiwan? Is the market there generally good on price/mostly authentic, or do you still need your wits about you? I'm fairly new to pu and I don't th...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Thanks for the tip. Which vendor are you using? Sold out at KTM  I sourced mine from Taiwan a few years ago. The market price for these cakes is still very good there even now. Try asking John at KTM if he can source them for you and at what price. Otherwise I did source some 601 cakes (at a s...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Dayi 8582 602 - taiwan+singapore storage.
Costs a fraction of what the acclaimed and much hyped 8582 501/504 does, but still hits the spot very well.

Highly recommend the later batch 2006 cakes for the budget conscious 8582 fans.

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

The Hk Henry 2003 is a good cake. My first experience from EoT was that the cake was rather inconsistent from session to session, but seems to be better with Taiwanese storage so far (or is that just random luck?). I did a group buy from Taiwan recently for some local friends. May have ended up with...

Re: Aging puerh: what is your setup?

(Also, I should thank sqt for convincing me about going the Boveda route last year. The do last much longer than I used to assume, and the fact that they are rechargable makes it a really affordable and hassle-free option. (I actually went out to buy 16 liters of distilled water for future rechargi...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

XG 01 iron cake last night. Excellent tea, its almost like a good scotch masquerading as sheng.

Some maocha this morning, 2015(?) Wild Kunlu from TDC.
