Re: Kyusu Chat (Tokoname vs. Banko vs. Arita)

Thanks, Teatray! First, I apologize for not posting this under the teaware section. I haven't been on this site for a long time but anyway, I appreciate the feedback and may message you directly as well. I think the normal progression of sencha-drinking experience does indeed lead us to smaller kyus...

Kyusu Chat (Tokoname vs. Banko vs. Arita)

I'd love to get some feedback before I buy my next kyusu. Unfortunately, I just broke the lid to my Tokoname kyusu (https://www.yuuki-cha.com/teaware/japanese-teapots/kuro-sendan-tokoname-teapot) and although I may try to glue it together (food-safe glue recommendations appreciated), it was not very...

Re: SHINCHA 2019!

Thanks for the input about the 80 gram bags! It's good to know that this generally applies to the Yakushima teas. I'm also a big fan of the Ureshino guricha since that's what I drank many years ago when I lived in Kyushu for a summer. But, it's not out yet as shincha so I'm trying to be patient! If ...

Re: SHINCHA 2019!

Are 80 gram bags a trend? I don't know how I missed the fine print, but I ended up ordering two products from Yuuki-cha that are 80 grams instead of the usual 100. Both are shincha, so perhaps that's why. But, there are entire tea sellers that now only deal in 80 grams sizes. I hope that's not the f...

Re: SHINCHA 2019!

I'll be ordering from Yuuki-Cha and O-Cha. Whichever is available sooner, the Shimofuri Masashige from Yuuki-Cha or the Kurasawa from O-Cha will determine which vendor gets the first order. I don't typically buy non-organic, but all the talk about the 20th Anniversary Sae Midori has me convinced to...

Re: Yuuki-Cha recommendations?

I'm really enjoying the Organic Ureshino Sencha as one of my "everyday" teas. The price is reasonable and the flavor is very good. It is a chumushi however, so it's a bit more broken up than a typical asamushi or futsumushi. However, I enjoy the bolder flavors or deeper steamed teas and this one is ...

Re: Top electric kettle

About pre-sets of the Bonavita: If you have added or subtracted from a pre-set temperature (using + or - buttons) that temperature setting will remain in place until you move to another setting. In my use of my 1 liter pot I often heat water for infusions hours or even days after my first tea sessi...

Re: Top electric kettle

Thank you, Victoria! That's interesting to know that you can't select other specific temperatures on your kettle. I'm looking now at a Mooka 1 Liter. It is only 1000 watts, but they advertise a boil in 4 to 6 minutes which isn't too bad. I'll keep you posted!

Re: Top electric kettle

I'm in the market for an variable temperature kettle. I only need the liter size but am open to larger if absolutely necessary. What I don't understand is why the smaller gooseneck kettles are all either 1000 or in a few cases, 1200 watts. My current 1 liter Hamilton Beach glass kettle is 1500 watts...

Re: Yuuki-Cha recommendations?

I'm pretty new to ordering direct from Japan, but my 2nd order which I just placed was with Yuuki-cha. I'm still waiting on the shipment, but I ordered their Ureshino Sencha and Kagoshima Sencha Satsuma No Kanpu. In the late 70s, I was in Kyushu as an exchange student for a summer and I loved the da...
