Re: Yixing
Bok It is prob a lot easier for a US based shop to resell stuff from western facing vendors in China than it would be to form new connections there. That might be the case yes. Still a bit odd though, don’t think the price difference is large enough to prioritise a US based buy vs shipping from Asi...

Re: Gashon harvest outlook?
Actually, financial impact for general agriculture is a much more important issue. Vegetables, fruit and crops are essential (by extension animals), tea is a luxury. The high mountains should fare better though they get some moisture from the mist. Lower elevation it’s a different story... aka Orien...

Re: English-language Yixing books
Don’t think Yixing ware needs a plausible reason to be found in Singapore, lots of tea enthusiasts with deep pockets there...

Re: Yixing
Isn't purple cloud just a reseller of Western vendors' stuff, who don't have a us warehouse? I saw m&l teapots there too and i think from other shops as well. Can be, but in this case they have custom engraving on the bottom. Would that makes sense to resell stuff? M&L is in Canada right? Just next...

Re: Yixing
On funnier Yixing news, just saw this from Purple Cloud teahouse "custom made pots" https://www.instagram.com/p/CNoig89gWYv/ , which do look exactly the same as the wildly popular custom made ones from Essence of tea: https://essenceoftea.com/collections/yixing-teapots/products/120ml-fang-xia-hongni...

Re: Gashon harvest outlook?
Oh wow. It says the drought is one of the worst in the last 50 years. Water is always an interesting topic. Who gets to use it, how we protect it and what happens when there is none. Its S something that a lot of us probably take for granted. Typhoons?? Cant we pray for something a little less inte...

Re: Gashon harvest outlook?
It’s true, usually less rain means more flavour in the tea, but not so sure how it will affect the yield. High mountain also still has moisture from mist in the morning and night time, but not sure how far that goes if it keeps being so dry...

Re: Gashon harvest outlook?
There has been no rain... to a point that almost all parts of Taiwan, except the North have imposed water rationing measures. Not sure how that panned out in the high mountains, but no water is probably not good.
Haven’t looked into buying any either, I’ll report back if I hear something.

Re: Yixing advice
The colour change is characteristic of Zhuni but also of high quality Yixing clays in general (at least in my experience). As I’ve been misquoted elsewhere, I want to emphasise this again: some high quality clays turn very dark fast when filled with hot water, most often Zhuni, old AND modern ... I...
