Thanks everyone for the insight.
I have never had this clay, does it act like zini or hongni or a in-between ?
Sort of. A bit like Hongni, but not quite, as the heat retention properties are different.

Usually these get a nice patina quite fast.

Maybe one more pic can clear the topic :

That clears it up... that’s clearly the inner Zini core coming through, uneven Hongni glazing. So it’s probably a green label Neiwailinjiang.

Which is ok, just probably only half worth of what an early 70s Hongni would be.

Re: Yixing

@olivierd 60ml size, right?

Does the inside of the lid have any marks going around the inner lid skirt? See my picture.

Re: Yixing

And just for the info, the vendor told me it is "a run-in trace of the lid from f1". And I don't know what this is, hence my posting/questioning, hoping for some understanding. I don’t think so. Have never seen this kind of obvious colour difference in all the 60 and 70s clays I’ve handled. Anyone ...

Re: Yixing

Yes I was a bit surprised by these trace too, and it is said a hongni. They are only on the opening and inside of the lid lip ans a tiny one on the spout end. I'd say for a 80ml it's heavy. Would it be possible this is some kind of production/factory "rubbering " ? Thanks for the replies. I don’t t...

Re: Yixing

@olivierd nonetheless those brown stains are not quite right if it’s supposed hongni.

How does the pot feel in the hand? Light? Heavy?

Re: Yixing

Might be the pictures, but it looks a tad to shiny for 70s Hongni, might be wrong though. Possibly Neiwailinjiang, inside outside coated with Hongni on a Zini core.

As what was it sold to you?

Re: Yixing

./download/file.php?id=8616 Just received a beautiful early 70s, I was puzzled by the kind of rubbing of the opening showing brown on the clay. ./download/file.php?id=8617 Can someone please explain how this comes . Has this teapot been cleaned? Could just be tea stains. Inside looks a bit differen...

Re: Various brewing methods

If humanity even had the faintest idea, we wouldn’t be at the point where we are... we’re limited by our brain’s capacity and have barely evolved from our ancestral primal instincts and conditionings. I say let’s just have a cuppa instead and enjoy the moment. We will all die in the end, at least th...

Those look like fun! I like the stencil ones, but as mentioned above not practical for hit drinks... and once they are chipped they start to become a hazard.

Re: What's the meaning of life?

I'm somewhat disappointed that the question hasn't been taken seriously. The OP may have been insincere but gave no hint of it. Here is what he said: "So, I am asking you to give me a straight & simple answer to the question: What is the meaning of life?" It just means that there is no simple answe...
