Re: Storage Failure

This has been an interesting thread. I have a few data points to add to the discussion. I live in Finland, which is due to the need to warm our houses most of the year in practice extremely arid for pu'er. I have been drinking tea from about 2008, and pu'er has been an interest from quite early on....

Re: Storage Failure

What kind of puerh are you talking about? If it is new green stuff, it will naturally change a lot during the first couple of years, loosing the freshness. As far as mold development, it usually happens at areas where the humidity concentrates: near the source of humidity, in corners, etc. or where...

Re: Storage Failure

hi Kelly, I saw your post about Hojo here and your loss of aroma. I still have some issues, but I think a lot of them boil down to being climate seasonal changes that maybe even sometimes aren't drying the tea out while in humidity controlled storage but also just that the dry season everything goe...

Re: Storage Failure

I haven't tried vacuum sealing tea, but I store all loose tea and cakes individually in mylar pouches inside a temperature controlled cabinet... Thanks for sharing that. It seems with experience, we're arriving at similar conclusions with the sealed mylar and humidity retention. This greatly reduce...

Re: Storage Failure

thanks for the article YeeOnTeaCo trying to avoid a storage failure here... but maybe I'm being overly paranoid... I don't think you are! I came here for the same reasons, ideas and efforts you are speaking to here because frankly, I have noticed that teas that I loved upon purchase, I sometimes wo...

Re: Hojo Tea

Hello all; I did a search for Hojo Tea reviews to try and corroborate a few observations and this popped up at the top. I was curious if others share my experience with Hojo's teas thus far. To be frank, the quality has rather spoiled me to the point that, of the other cakes of white tea, raw and ri...

Re: Humidity Control: DIY Salt Packs

Here I describe the background (including theory of operation) of salt packs and give a design suitable for pumidor humidity control... I just wanted to drop a thank you for your effort and time to write this up. I got into Puerh cakes last year and noted that cakes that overwintered here had becom...

Re: Gongfu with white tea?

Hi Kale, Did you find what worked for you in the end? I recently started with my first 'good' white teas and absolutely love them. I got a sample of Bai Mudan 2018 from Hojo's. Loved it, bought 150g and in turn received another sample of wild picked, high mountain white which I plan to order as well...

Re: Your favourite Jasmine? Where to from here?

Hi Janice - thanks for sharing. I'd not been to TeaTrekker before and in my infinite curiousity, it seems I'll want to give their Jasmines a try. FWIW, in my last order from Teavivre, I did receive some Oolongs and found them quite different from my usual and from each other. One is more roasty with...

Your favourite Jasmine? Where to from here?

Hello all. I've started a serious tea hobby over the past 6 months due to discovering Jasmine pearls at a local tea shop and exploring from there. I checked local Chinese shops and found smaller, expensive zip bags which were nice, but very pricey and not always fresh. I moved on-line and tried to s...
