Re: Shincha 2021. What's in your cart?

Does anyone have any leads on vendors selling temomi shincha? I know it's a crapshoot, especially with the way 2020 and this year have been. I just got a gorgeous new kyusu and it deserves some really nice tea. Sorry for the late reply! Maybe you remember Iannon on TC. He was the house Temomi...

Re: Shincha 2021. What's in your cart?

O-Cha Sae Midori. I finished a bag ... and failed to really take any notes. I just approach SM like I am approaching an old friend ... why would I take notes? I was just thrilled to have shincha in hand! I was almost down to brewing memories because I procrastinated ordering and was virtually out of...

Re: Shincha 2021. What's in your cart?

More O-Cha ... Oku Midori fukamushi. OM can be rather scarce and at times disappointing. THIS IS NOT DISAPPOINTING! It is really stellar! Price, same as Sae Midori, $24/100grams. Each session was a little dfferent, but each was really very good. I was impressed from the very first steep. Finished th...

Re: Shincha 2021. What's in your cart?

So far ... O-Cha. Tsuyu Hikari, pricey albeit. And now it is sold out anyway. When I brew my first steep of a new and expensive selection, I am always a bit nervous ... especially having only 30 grams to play with. But I had a lot of Tsuyu Hikari years ago and had fond memories of this cultivar. Ok,...

Re: Shincha 2021. What's in your cart?

Insanely fast shipping from O-Cha via Fedex. 1st order around 48 hours diverted to Indy for some reason. 2nd order, from pick-up to my door via the usual Memphis hub ... UNDER 36 HOURS! I figured it to be 33 hours. Some say the shipping is expensive, but if you play with quanties in your cart, you c...

Finally received this very interesting Yamada Sou "Ao" kyusu!

140ml but have not checked.

Shincha 2021. What's in your cart?

It is that time of the year again! Time to start seriously thinking about Shincha 2021! Where will you be ordering from and what is on your short and long list? Shincha is running a few weeks ahead of schedule due to a mild Winter ... that is the good news. The bad news is that due to the mild Wint...

Re: Hagi ware and absorption of colour/odour

Just my 2 Yen's worth. Hagi-yaki is generally quite porous. I once poured sake into a Seigan guinomi (I use guinomi much more than yunomi for sencha). The aroma remained EXTREMELY noticeable indefinitely rendering it unusable for tea. It was an older Seigan blue, I honestly did not think it would ab...

Even though I go lidless, the lid is always present, and I would be bummed if it somehow got broken.

Re: FS: Yamada Emu Woodfired Kyusu

Really nice Emu! I hope someone buys it quickly ... before I do! I actually like taller kyusu and this has a nice wide opening. Often taller kyusu have rather small openings. But I do tend do reach for more squatty shapes much more often. So, you watch the leaves as you brew? I do too. The vast majo...

Re: Adagio overtakes Steepster ?

Well said Chip. I, for one was outraged when the OTTI came down. We as members spent our own money to purchase teas, post comparative reviews, and broaden our knowledge and appreciation for tea. Add to this monumental task that you took on coordinating participants, acquiring product, packing count...

Re: Adagio overtakes Steepster ?

Oh, be aware and beware of "terms of use." Nobody remembers seeing this on TeaChat, so I suspect it was added later. Terms of use such as on TeaChat and likely to be added to Steepster gives Adagio carte blanche to pretty much do anything they want to do on their forum(s) including ... wait for it ....

Re: Adagio overtakes Steepster ?

I have decided to post this information here for the record. Although I have no plans to post this on Steepster, if someone wants to copy and quote me there, please feel free to do so! I have thought how to respond, and I have concluded this is the path I will take. Sadly for me, this brings the exp...
