Looks good w/ the staple repair.
Thanks! Nice 4-5 second pour too. Now if I can just swallow my pride, I can enjoy it for what it is. :D

Re: Yixing

Well, tuition paid, but not too bad. Even with the auction cost, fees, shipping, and repair, it was only a little more expensive than I'd be happy to pay for a good modern pot. Plus, I love Nissan's staple work. Could have been MUCH worse.

In any case the after cleaning images make it obvious that the clay isn’t right for what it purports to be.
Assuming you guys are correct, at least the fakers used really good clay. It brews yancha really well.

Re: Yixing

Trying to learn more about antique Yixing. I recently won this pot from a Yahoo Japan auction. So far, a few very knowledgeable people say it's late Qing, and a couple say it's a repro. I'll be ok either way, as the cost was low enough that the "tuition" wouldn't be painful, and it seems to make out...

Re: Puzzled wannabe Yixing buyer

As for Camellia Sinensis, do you know it they have ever been discussed on this forum? I would like to get a feel for what to expect in relative terms if I were to shop elsewhere. Quite a few years ago, they were dragged on TeaChat pretty hard for marking up common puerh cakes an absurd amount, and ...

Re: Puzzled wannabe Yixing buyer

Wow, OP, you have trust issues! When shopping for Yixing, that's not such a bad thing. FWIW, I've been collecting Yixing myself for about 10 years now, and have been very lucky to handle lots of really nice pots, AND to see lots of junk ones in several Chinatowns across the US. I doubt you'll ...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

I noticed that EoT added their 2016 Wuliang H back in stock. I had bought a cake back when it first came out, but hadn't drank it in a while, so I had a session today to refresh my memory and decide if it's worth getting more. It's definitely a very clean tea with some solid old tree energy. The aro...

Re: Recommendations for a newb

Just one bit of additional advice: tea experiences "travel shock" when being shipped through the mail, especially intercontinental shipping. Give those teas at least a week or more to rest before trying them out, otherwise you won't get a proper impression.

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinki

Oh nice, let us know how you like it. Another member brought it to our last tasting at my place, and two of us thought of buying a cake. I also keep thinking of getting some roasted oolong from them. Have you ordered from there before? First time ordering from them. I tend to never blind buy, espec...
