Re: Yerba Mate Advice

i don't see the point of using the gourd and the metal straw. sounds like the worst way to drink anything ever. It works because you're drinking it at 80°C or lower, and taking small sips. The straw also has a small strainer to keep the residues out. The gourd is quite practical as well, especially...

Re: How much tea is too much tea?

Beyond just sheer volume of tea being consumed all of the previous stories I've seen of someone in the US or UK poisoning themselves this way also ended up being that they were brewing the tea in an unusual fashion as well, using multiple bags per cup(and probably enough sugar it's surprising that ...

Re: How much tea is too much tea?

Assuming by cup they mean 240 ml, the man would've been drinking 3,8 l of tea daily. Now that's definitely too much tea. Whether quality matters or not is uncertain. The article says oxalate is found in black tea, meaning it's not naturally present in C. Sinensis leaves (as it is in spinach and berr...

Re: Where Do You Go For High Quality?

Back to your quest. You can talk on the phone with some vendors to help you decide whether you should try some of their products that they "are trying to sell". I believe one good man has listed his phone # once. I know much less than he does but do offer a few of the best teas & could put together...

Re: Where Do You Go For High Quality?

On the topic of names: right now the only people employing a correct (and most of all, consistent) translitteration system are linguists; everyone else does at they please. Changes in voiced/voiceless consonants (d/t, b/p) and open/closed vowels (o/u) shouldn't bother you: Bi Luo Chan and Pi Lo Chan...

Re: Show Off Your Pets

I always get a tad anxious when I see a cat so close to teaware. He must be really well behaved.
He's cute, though. I'm sure he gets plenty of cuddles!

Re: Specialist or Generalist (Tea Enjoyment)

I started with Japanese greens, Hojicha and Sencha in particular, and I drank nothing else for a year. I then moved to Chinese greens and from there to wulongs and then BAM! the whole tea world exploded in front of me! Greener wulongs for a while, then shu pu'erh, then sheng, and then everything in ...

.m. why stop at gold?

Looks like those weapons European nobles used to gift to each other: gold axes, silver shields, gold-plated guns. Completely useless but hey! it's expensive!

Re: tea when you travel

I usually bring a gaiwan and a cup - more than one cup and a fairness pitcher if I'm travelling with people who enjoy tea.
If I know I won't have time to boil water, I bring a chawan and a nice Japanese green I can cold brew. Admittedly, it works better during summer.

Re: Wanted: Kintsugi ware

Or you can look on French kintsugi artisan Miryam Greff, she has a black kintsugied chawan at the moment: https://kintsugi.fr/ Ooh, some lovely pieces there! Good thing I have a limited budget, otherwise I would buy one for myself as well. Also, thank you pedant and bok. I realised late in the nigh...

Wanted: Kintsugi ware

This may be an odd request, but does anyone know artisans who sell chawans or yunomi repaired with the kintsugi technique?
I wanted to gift one to a friend for a special occasion, but I don't have enough time (not to mention the stomach) to find a nice chawan, break it, and have it repaired.

Oh, nice to see your hygrometer and beautiful Shiboridashi. Pu’erh sound good too :) Looks like summer is around the corner in northern Italy.
Summer lasts longer for me - say from april to mid-october - but yeah, most people would say it's coming. A good time to stock up on pu'erh.

I had a nice Da Fo Longjing from Seven Cups, although it was nearly six years ago. Never ordered from Tea Trekker.
