Re: Jinggu Xue Ya: Chinese White Peony Tea

"Xue Ya" actually means "Snow Buds" in Chinese. Mostly it indeed consists of buds and small leaves, otherwise it wouldn't live up to its name.

Re: Chinese tea poor harvest year

From what I heard the bigger challenge is about hiring tea pickers. Unless many countries where tea pickers are underpaid, in China it's hard to hire this year. Due to covid, many seasonal workers prefer to stay in their home town to avoid getting stuck. that was in Yiwu last year , when village ( ...

Love this one from Teasenz.eu, but it's based in Europe though: https://teasenz.eu/products/2005-ripe-m ... ao-cha-tou
Not sure why they don't have it in their global store.

Re: How do you stop hoarding tea?

True, shipping cost are outrageous, not to mention I get so unlucky with the custom fees each time. I just paid DHL this morning 37 euro custom fees for my order on top of shipping cost. I would have much preferred to sip some lishan with that money. But it is what it is. I hardly spend any crazy💰 ...

Re: What would you tell your novice self about tea

I would mainly have made different teaware choices: Don't spend too much money on teaware in the beginning: you don't know yet what you want. Just get a 10-20 dollar gaiwan that you can use for any kind of tea, and start your tea journey trying at lots of different teas. Don't invest in large quanti...

Re: Clay Jars odors

Simple clay jars are for me still the best option though. Other methods might remove odors, but it might also remove the aroma of the tea itself.

Re: Hong Kong style milk-tea (絲襪奶茶)

Big fan of Hong Kong style milk tea. Also love how it is sometimes served in a glass button/cup inside a bucket of ice. I like the traditional one, but i've made it at home also with Da Hong Pao and ripe pu erh, which also tastes really good. Especially with Teasenz' Da Hong Pao (medium roast), the ...

Moon Cakes & Tea Pairing

Hi all, today it's Mid-Autumn festival in China, and some of you may know that the Chinese will enjoy moon cakes together with Family. Traditional moon cakes are round and symbolise 'reunion'. Are you familiar with moon cakes? If so, do you pair moon cakes with tea? We would love to hear your though...

Re: Hong Kong style milk-tea (絲襪奶茶)

I love to make my Hong Kong style black tea with dark oolongs. Love the rocky flavour with condensed milk, though I'm not sure if you can still call it a hong kong style milk tea though. I've also tried it in combination with an espresso shot, tastes lovely as well. Somehow if you make it with black...

Re: Pros & Cons of Using Ceramic Tea Caddies

Storage in caddies doesn't work at all for most teas. It does work for both ripe and raw pu erh, especially older ones and darker oolongs. It doesn't work for light oolong, because the flavour is mainly the fragrance that's on the surface of the tea. For darker oolongs, the flavour is more inside th...

Re: Aged White Tea

I've always purchased my white tea cakes from Teasenz, they never disappoint. I can recommend their silver needle white tea cake and moonlight white. They also have a breakable waffle white tea cake too, but that one I only recommend if you like a very light and subtle white tea.

Re: Fishy smell in Yixing clay storage pots

In China, people use tea or tofu to remove Yixing clay smells. I seasoned my teapot with tea before and it worked great, but if you want to store any kind of tea in jars, then tofu seems more neutral to me.
