Looking for a gaiwan recommendation...
I'm working a couple days a week out of a new office and I'm looking for a new gaiwan to use there. Something super-utilitarian but also nice (if that makes sense?). I'd love to hear any recommendations people here may have. For reference, my all-time favorite gaiwan is the medium Tea Gallery gaiwan...
Re: Hagi
I can't follow at all those prices on the site. I see bowls priced $600,- i could buy elsewhere for less than 100,-. Seigan has a large workshop, with several kilns and staff. Looking through his studio you will find pieces priced from low to high, depending on the degree of quality he determines t...

Yes! Let's chat and catch up. I've been making nerikoh-style incense mostly. Send me an email and I'll share some resources with you.

Also in NYC is Gen Saratani: https://www.urushi.info/kintsugi
Gen also does restoration work for lacquer ware and teaches kintsugi workshops, too.
FWIW, I would probably contact Nissan first for any kintsugi work I wanted done.

TJ, if you ever decide to get rid of that Best Tea House special order pot you have, you know where to look first.

Re: Tea pets
It's totally ridiculous and not really my style, but I'm completely in love this mecha-style toad:

Sadly, out of stock from the two vendors I found who had it listed, but maybe someday...

Stone Tea Table Care & Maintenance
I have a stone tea table (one of those large-ish black stone trays with drainage holes drilled into the center, with a slightly rough textured surface) and I'm not sure what care and maintenance it needs over time, if any. I pour hot water over it after each use and lightly dry it with a cloth. Beyo...

Re: Leaky tea table fix?
UPDATE: Infilled the edges with a silicone epoxy, then spread a thin layer across the entire central strip. So far, nearly a year later, there's been no further leaking.
Thanks for the suggestions, all!

They aren't listed on their website, but Fang Gourmet Tea in Flushing, NY has a bunch of different styles, including ones that look exactly like the one posted here. I imagine if you contact them, they'd be willing to send photos.

Re: Leaky tea table fix?
Thanks for the feedback and suggestions!
I used the photo from the TB proxy I used--I've since attached feet to the bottom.
Before I chip out the old filler, I think I'll try coating the entire length of the tube with silicone sealant and see if it holds. I'll report back!

Leaky tea table fix?
Hi all! I have a stone tea table I've been using for a couple of weeks. Earlier today, tea started leaking out from underneath. I assumed I had accidentally pulled the drainage tube loose, but it looks instead like it's leaking around the edges of the hard sealant that encloses the copper drainage t...
