Re: Yixing
That is a real nightmare, I've had friends attempt to manhandle my teaware. One in particular tried to use Dawn(tm) grease cleanser on one of my clay gaiwans. The gaiwan wasn't that expensive but daaamn I kinda snapped. You could hear me doing the movie sound, "Noooooooooooooooo...". Whenever I had...

Re: What White Are You Drinking
Finished up a Moonlight white tea from Qi's Fine Teas in Portland--very delicate and lovely flavor, lasting through at least 6-7 steeps. Stored in the freezer per the vendor's recommendation--she said while the tea would age well, if I wanted to keep the fresher fruit and melon notes in the tea, th...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Drinking a green phoenix oolong tonight--wasn't actually sure if this belonged here or in the green thread. It's definitely an interesting tea--it requires careful attention to brew or it can turn very astringent, but otherwise manages to have both a nice green edge and the usual phoenix aromatics.

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
Stuck at home for a while due to the coronavirus here in the Seattle area, so thought I'd try to get back into the swing of posting up pictures of my tea sessions. This one was very multinational--Czech teapot and teacup (Petr Novak), Korean pitcher, and tea mammoth to drink the leftovers from Jingd...

Re: Tianqingni Yixing Clay: Colour change after firing.
I really like the looks of these pots, and I've been looking for the right three-legged pot for quite a while. However, the size is a bit of a concern, esp. for single person gongfu sessions--is there a particular reason you decided to have the artist make them so large?

Re: Teaware Repair Show-off
This is not my repair, but I ran across this video on Tumblr and it was too impressive not to share: https://www.tumblr.com/video/tainry/612 ... 67873/700/.
Has anyone ever run across this kind of repair before? Are they using actual silver or something else? (Something hopefully food safe!)

Re: An Ode to Czech Potters
I'm not sure I agree with that, as every time I see a pots and tea club offering go up he seems to be experimenting with new glazes and variations on his forms. He doesn't completely switch style, of course, but there's a definite evolution there. In fact I have a couple pieces of his with very uniq...

Re: An Ode to Czech Potters
Thank you for the write up--it's always very interesting to see different POVs on local tea scenes, esp. from countries that don't have a lot of members frequenting our English-speaking boards. :) I'm a huge Petr Novak fan (seriously, nearly half my collection is his work), and it's really interesti...

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?
I've heard about that place. I've actually thought about it as a solution for when I move. Just get like a five gallon carboy and fill it or something. I'll have to check it out sometime. Edit: Hey! it's only ten minutes from my Grandma's house! Edit 2: found the official website http://www.alderwo...

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?
I live about 30 min south of Seattle, so can't speak to city water proper, but I use a Brita filter with my tap water and it seems just fine for me--I've brewed everything from white to green to puerh in it. Being the treehugger that I am, I have a real aversion to any kind of bottled water, esp. if...

Re: A bit of gossip about TC...
I was on Teachat when the whole thing went down, and watched the new Adagio people (web devs? mods? who knew?) at first try to claim they were 'improving' the forum, then 'updating' the forum, then go from soliciting feedback, to promising fixes that never arrived, to actively ignoring any user comp...

Re: Aged White Tea
I actually just spent a good chunk of a vacation weekend at a new (to me) teashop in Portland, OR--Qi's Fine Teas ( https://qifineteas.com/ ). They specialize in phoenix mountain teas and puerh. And despite not being a puerh drinker, I actually ended up taking home some of their Moon Light Beauty Ra...

Re: Green Tea Vendor Topic
I'm very surprised no one has mentioned Tea Trekker ( https://teatrekker.com/ ) yet--their selection is extensive, and they provide a lot of information on terroir, pluck, etc. I have several perennial favorites from them, and enjoy experimenting with new teas from them every now and then.
