Yeah definitely. There probably has been a misunderstanding - i didn't mean to imply this weren't the case, just that I couldn't recommend Red Alishan, even though TTC certainly has good Red Oolongs in general which I can recommend.

Re: European Union EU private imports / good local vendors after summer 2021
Hey teatray, I'm glad you liked my post. Yeah, experiences are really all over the place. Which seems pretty standard now is that the couriers deal with customs directly and then charge the customer. That can save some efforts (going to the customs etc)., but of course they charge for it. For exampl...

Red Alishan - no. But Taiwan Tea Crafts has some good Red Oolongs in general.

Re: European Union EU private imports / good local vendors after summer 2021
What is it like in yours, esp. since July? German customs tend to be more difficult about these things than Austrian or French ones for example. But that is actually another topic: shipments from China seem to be subject to increased scrutiny. It went so far that Yunnan Sourcing.com stopped shippin...

Pictures of sand iron (satetsu) Tetsubin? Especially used ones
Hi guys, so I guess most of us have been eyeing and then not buying satetsu tetsubin. First due to their silver sheen and exclusivity, second due to their price :D . There's plenty of pictures of new ones, but I wonder if there is pics of Satetsu-Bin that have seen some use? Especially the interior....

Re: Red Oolong tea
Hongshui Oolong is not the same as Hong Oolong. Thanks Bok for the info. So basically, "Hong Oolong" is practically a Hongcha with some quirks. Fair enough - I mean, Oolong is probably one of the most diverse types of tea. Some are almost Green tea, others are almost Black tea, so one could draw a ...

Re: Best Tea Tray Materials/Features?
On the other hand, I love beautiful wood, and a tray made from really lovely grained wood would be so nice...and I've got enough pretty wood accumulated from making smaller projects that I'd could even contemplate doing it myself, but the pretty wood itself would need protecting from both the somet...

Re: Oolong Vendor Topic
I've always had the impression that EoT delivered with their teas. Even though most of their teas are now out of my price range.
I had a few of their handmade Yanchas and recently drank their 2015 handmade Dong Ding - good stuff.
Also Taiwan Tea Crafts - a good vendor in my book.

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?
Agree 100% with Bok . Luckily, we have chlorine-free water here. Many of Europe's water is very hard, but I'm so lucky as to live in an area where the water is medium. There are two springs in my area and this thread has reminded me that I should go to them again and get some fresh water - that's th...

Totally possible @Bok. I speculated and might as well be wrong - I'm in a dry coldish climate, so I wouldn't know first hand.

Re: How to tell if my light oolongs / green teas are going stale?
Bok Yes, absolutely, there will be a lot of variation. Quality is one, and I believe roasting/baking also stabilizes tea a lot. Even if a very slight touch of a roast will make teas much less fragile. I mean things like mountain oolongs and longjing which are still pretty green. And certainly there...

Re: How to tell if my light oolongs / green teas are going stale?
Oh man, thanks guys for the feedback. Sounds like a month might have changed them sufficiently that I'm not really enjoying them. Hmm.. I wouldn't say that. In my experience, this works a bit like a hyperbolic function - quick losses in the beginning, but then it slows down. And quite a lot remains...

Re: Tetsubin cleaning tutorial
Hi Robert , I don't know if you're still following. Anyhow, while the second set of pictures still doesn't give all the details, I think it is very likely that this pot is enamel lined on the inside. It looks very similar to a lined teapot I had and used for boiling water for a while. It is generall...
