Re: What Black Are You Drinking

Sorry, didn’t mean to correct you just wanted to clarify. I often refer to Taiwan Oriental Beauty as black, even though it is actually a highly oxidized oolong. YatraTeaCo how well would you say 1st flush Darjeeling age after packaging? Are intentionally aged or fermented Darjeeling a thing? I have...

Re: Darjeeling tea drinkers - do you have preferred estates?

I have three containers in my refrigerator. Two cold brewed containers of Rooibos, and one FF Darjeeling. The Darjeeling leaves i use is from this thread's original poster Yatra Tea Company. I was taken by surprise how good an FF Darjeeling could taste, even cold brewed.

Re: Darjeeling tea drinkers - do you have preferred estates?

There are times I wish this was an easy question to answer. Even the same Darjeeling, same estate, same flush, same DJ number, same grade (special finest tippy golden flowery orange pekoe), same retailer, will differ in taste depending on the prevailing climate and weather each year. So I go throug...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking

This is interesting. In what way were they better? I usually prefer Darjeelings picked mid first flush with invoices like DJ40. I’m drinking 2016 Margaret’s Hope DJ40 FTGFOP1 Organic now, and have been drinking this along with 2016 Singbuli DJ30 SFTGFOP1 Organic, for the past two years now since my ...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking

A rotation of Arya FF2016, Margret’s Hope FF2016, Namring Upper 2016. Currently drinking the Arya at my desk at work. The tea is good having all the flavors of a quality FF Darjeeling, yet when compared to the Namring Upper and Margaret’s Hope (MH being the better), The Arya falls short. This is why...

Re: Planning trip to Japan or Taiwan

A tour, dedicated to tea lovers might be a better way to travel. This is off the steepster website and they are in the midst of taking reservations for their 2018 tour to Japan. http://www.littletreetea.com/tours/japan-tea-tour-2018/ Much of the tour takes place in/near Kyoto. Kyoto, along with the ...

Re: Introduce Yourself

How long have you been drinking tea? Living in Japan, as long as I can remember. Started drinking less tea after moving to the US. After graduating from UCLA, moved back to Japan and really got into tea there. All sorts of specialty tea stores and tea salons in Tokyo. That’s where I fell in love wit...
