Re: Buying tea in Japan, via a friend.

You have your list and I don't want to deviate from your question, but I would suggest that if you trust your friend's taste and knowledge of quality, why not give your list as a guide and let him surprise you? You'd be getting teas that aren't exported and that numerous Japanese drink. Some might s...

Re: Bottled tea

I may be confusing things here but I thought I once read that imported "sencha" is used, Chinese? possibly their South American gardens. I'm not sure bold is referring roasted as that is a distinctly labeled bottle.

The flare of the ido shape is perfectly balanced and the biwa glaze is very pure. All o...

Re: What would you tell your novice self about tea

"Now and then its good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy" - Guillaume Apollinaire drinking tea does not make me happy, being happy makes me drink tea. Happiness is the host, tea is a guest and as host I would never embarrass my guest, no matter the grade or quality of tea. Drink...

Saito Issei is not a member of the Hagi Ceramic Association but is well known. I don't know much about him. You have a quality teabowl in your hands, and very good taste.

Re: Req. assistance from tea experts (B/Tea: Darjeeling)!!

I certainly hope you rediscover the flavor, comfort and warmth and I apologize I don't have a suggestion for you But as a quest, yours has so many variables, so often the search uncovers new meaning, rather than fulfill old desires, I think of two setbacks to your search: As Thomas Wolfe wrote "You ...

Re: Identifying labels

Tyler, No offense taken, I don't drink puer seriously but do follow the conversations here about how much is faked and how difficult it is to verify. These were given to me as gifts, years ago and so as long as the tea leaves are real, whether or not the label is, is fine. What I am interested in an...

Re: Identifying labels

Thank you for the replies. Sorry for the double identical image, not sure why that happened. The Red Dayi has 2007-9-6 on the box, and I've had it maybe 10 years, untouched. I can only trust the gift giver, and won't investigate too thoroughly. The first wrapper, also a gift from years ago, is finis...

Identifying labels (wrappers)

20220904_204327~2.jpg 20220905_152321.jpg I am just an enjoyer of pu'er and in my understanding ripe pu'er has a recipe numeric code on the label. These two labels don't have that, which leads me to ask how to determine what exactly it is. I searched puer labels in the forum but didn't find an answ...

./download/file.php?id=11055 ./download/file.php?id=11056 Made koicha for the first time today. Uji-hikari cultivar form Shirakawa, Uji (via TdJ). Tasty stuff, though some sweets came in handy. Still getting a feel for it. Judging from the granules in the pics, I need to knead it much better. What ...

Re: Simple iced tea

I think you cannot go wrong with the choice of a Ceylon tea, the better the tea the better iced tea, but I don't use anything very expensive. Kenilworth is nice. I did want to give you two possibilities for the future. Jasmine iced tea is really delicious, as long as it isn't the cheap stuff, and Th...

Ethan Kurland are you satisfied by these answers? Octo?

These aren't answers. There is no answer. This was just a parlor game.
