Very kind of you to share your knowledge. I now know that the tiny shiny specks inside my 90's pot are mica. I have a very old pot from pre 1940's china. It does not have any shiny specs.

I never thought of doing this.

I have an order of sencha and gyokuryu arriving any day now and will try closing my eyes. I won't hold Chip accountable if I break the teaware :)

A friend has asked my advice on purchasing a large Yixing teapot around 300ml volume. He will be hosting a series of oolong tastings.
