Re: Dayi 7542
I am with octo that the pre-bubble 7542's are much better. I have a couple of these around but to be honest I like the Spring of Menghai and the 7532's a bit more. Just my preference though. And seeing how you liked the 2001 I would try and find another if you could. Any favorite source/year for Sp...

Re: Wireless Hygrometer Recommendations
I have the sensor push. Not cheap, but works great. The app works seamlessly and you can see fluctuations over time. I only use the Bluetooth function.

Re: Additives in Yixing Clay and Impact on Clay Quality
Thanks Youzi. I think that is a very reasonable interpretation. I have a few hongni F1 pots ranging from 60s, 80s, and 90s. It's hard for me to compare them directly, because they all have different sizes and properties (fast/slow, thick/thin). I also own some 90s Malaysian commissioned DiCaoQing po...

Re: Additives in Yixing Clay and Impact on Clay Quality
Thanks Youzi! Appreciate any additional resources or comments to learn more about how the additives impact clay quality. Also, would you say that most pre 1980s clay should be reasonably good, or was there a lot of variation?

Additives in Yixing Clay and Impact on Clay Quality
I recently read Youzi's blog articles on Yixing manufacturing ( https://www.teapotandtea.com/modern-yixing-zisha-processing-method/ and am also intrigued by description of some pots on teaswelike.com regarding use of Barium carbonate in modern yixing. This is a great blog, but I was left with a few ...

Re: Breaking into a Puer Cake
I also prefer the method of prying from the bing hole outward. I like this method because 1) I only break off small chunks at a time and I find that cakes start to disintegrate/fall apart more easily when starting from the outside edge 2) it seems more aesthetically pleasing to gradually thin our th...

Re: Telling the difference between sheng and shu when both have been stored Hong Kong style?
MarshalN has commented on this in his blog which is a great read. I agree that looking at the spent leaves is a great way to differentiate. Shu leaves tend to look dark/black and retain their compressed shape after brewing. They will break apart when you try to flatten the used leaves. Sheng leaves ...

Re: Anyone drinking the latest Liquid Proust Group Buy?
LiquidProust releases samplers throughout the year and they are all fantastic buys in my opinion. They tend to be high-end boutique teas and hard to find teas. I try to buy every one he releases, because I always learn something new from the teas. #8 was really good and I'm still working through it....

Re: Refrigerating brewed puerh tea
I never have much success with refrigerating tea, but no harm in giving it a whirl. In my experience it ends up tasting a bit different and less pleasant. I tend to brew in a much smaller pot gong-fu style. When the leaves still have some strength in them, but I can't drink more tea, I just leave th...

Re: WTB EOT 80ml Private Order Yixing
I’m using it for semi-aged Puerh. It has a little bit of a muting character, but the size works nicely for me. If it doesn’t end up working out for you let me know. Cheers

WTB EOT 80ml Private Order Yixing
https://essenceoftea.com/collections/yixing-teapots/products/80ml-private-order-yixing-teapot Hello, I picked up this pot and I enjoy using it. I’d like to pick up another because I realize all pots will eventually break (especially with a cat in the house). I believe a few were sold. Just seeing i...

Re: ISO: Teas We Like (TWL) Group Buy
I currently own quite a few of their cakes (Conscientious Prescription, Huangyin, Lishan Gongshan, Shanzong Chuanqi, 8582) and would be willing to do a sample or partial cake trade...but I just don't have the flexibility to make it to the post office during business hours any time soon. EDIT: I woul...
