Re: WTS Factory 1 Yixing Pot + Japanese Teacup/ Yunomi

Apologies for the confusion. I (and the teapot + cup) are located in Pennsylvania. Free shipping is only via USPS to destinations within the continental United States. If someone is interested outside the US and buyer is willing to pay shipping + duties, that may be acceptable.

WTS Factory 1 Yixing Pot + Japanese Teacup/ Yunomi

For sale are two items: Item #1: 1990s Factory 1 Hong Ni Pot 95cc I bought this pot from chawangshop for $175 and only used it once with clean-stored puerh. Selling because I need some more room in my tea cupboard. It is a very attractive pot with good lid-fit. Pour is not lightening fast, but not s...

Re: Toss the scraps from your cake?

I am always tempted to use the little bits/dust when I have a sample of something very expensive. However, I almost always regret it because the little bits make the brew too bitter and will invariably clog up the spout of the pot making the problem worse. I now just toss these bits. I have come to ...

Re: There's no point in rating teas

Also found that it is really hard to get to know a tea well enough to rate it (or not to rate it) after a 25 gram sample.

Re: "Oolong Puerh" Processing

Thanks tealilfehk. I believe I read someone on a tea forum or teablog write that these qualities Floral/Fruity/Sweet/Astringent/Smokey are a zero sum game. To gain some of the fruity sweetness you necessarily loose one of the other qualities. I don't mean to fuel the debate of which cakes age better...

Re: "Oolong Puerh" Processing

TL DR: fruit/floral vs smoky/astringent young sheng. Greater difference in base material or processing?

"Oolong Puerh" Processing

Saw a post on Reddit recently which linked to an old teachat thread from 2013 ( https://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=18208 ) and discusses "oolong puerh": modern puerh which is heavy in fragrance but light in body. The discussion mentions the possibility that these flavors come from a differ...

I’v tried it and found the symptoms linked with pesticides were quite easy to notice. Really interesting experience.
Curious if you can tell us more about what you noticed in the EOT pesticide test. I imagined it would be more of a taste/mouthfeel difference than symptom based.

Re: Inert gas flushing at home

I like the scientific method you have proposed with a blind test. I briefly used a nitrogen flush with those disposable bottles used for wine and couldn't tell much difference. Doubt I really got any nitrogen in the bag though.

Re: Tea pot spout dripping.

Poor lid-fit really drives me nuts. I bought a 90s shui-ping and it drips despite being a very attractive pot. What has changed since the 90s in pot manufacturing that allows cheaper pots to have a great lid fit?
