Re: What HeiCha are you drinking
Thanks wave_code . It's ok... on the plus side, it has meant we've had more time this year to explore in more depth the wuyi, yixing and the semi-aged puerh worlds here in China rather than travelling back and forth to Malaysia so regularly. We feel very fortunate to be here, where life goes on almo...

Re: What HeiCha are you drinking
I still have yet to get to try and of EoT's liu bao... and it looks like now they are sold out of everything except for some of the very old teas. I hope they will be able to restock or get in some new interesting stuff soon. Or maybe they are shifting focus more to their puerh? Covid has kind of s...

Re: Essence of Tea slow order / responsiveness?
Hi, I'm not sure where to ask about this, but what has been your experience with Essence of Tea orders? I have ordered a month ago and the card was charged and I got the order email but after that, no more updates and no response to emails. I know they've been around for a while and should be a sol...

Re: Kombucha
I've found sheng puerh, hongcha and white tea to work better than shou puerh or liubao. Perhaps the microbes from the wodui interferes somehow with the kombucha fermentation.
Sheng puerh and white tea can produce some very active and fizzy kombucha brews

Re: The Essence of Tea
Thanks everyone for your input. We're taking all your suggestions on board and looking into some higher end offerings for the tea club. Some feedback we've also been receiving other than on the forum is that people have too much tea, so I think we definitely need to put some months of higher end tea...

Re: How to explain pleasant bitterness
Bitterness and astringency are two separate sensations. Astringency is more of a drying, rough sensation - a wine that is high in tannins or a banana peel is astringent for example, but not necessarily bitter. Bitterness can be found in a lemon rind or hops, that aren't necessarily astringent. These...

Re: Can autumn harvest tea be this expensive?
In general, Autumn tea is about half the price in the mountains compared to Spring. Sometimes a little more than that, sometimes less

Re: Looking for Puer teas that do not use pesticides, fungicides, and HERBICIDES.
Are all the wild teas on offer at EoT grown without pesticides, fungicides or herbicides? Thanks for the heads up on the URL :) With your question - we haven't lab tested these wild teas. I've never felt the need to to be honest. Our Secret Forest and Wuliang wild for sure are wild since we commiss...

Re: Song to Ming Dynasty pottery
Song dynasty plates that have been buried are not that uncommon in China. The price isn't so high since the skills at that time weren't developed to the level of Ming Dynasty porcelain. Ming cups start to get more expensive and are less common, but plates and shallow bowls are still relatively acces...

Re: Looking for Puer teas that do not use pesticides, fungicides, and HERBICIDES.
We sell teas that have been grown without pesticides, fungicides or herbicides, both cultivated and wild teas. I hope a link is ok here: https://essenceoftea.com I'm not sure where the idea comes from that wild tea has to be $$$. Traditionally it hasn't been that popular in the Chinese market and st...

From the phone number this should have been packaged after 1985. From 1981-1985 HK phone numbers had 7 digits. This has 8.
Of course it probably wasn't new tea when it was sold!

Re: 2019 from Wuyi Origin?
I find the price acceptance for premium tea to be a lot lower in the West than it is in the East. I agree. There's a fine balancing line as a vendor. Trying to offer some of the better teas at the relevant market price often leads people to assume you're just trying to make too much money, especial...
