Re: US Tariffs & Shipping 2025
Just placed a larger order with d Matcha in anticipation of not being able to order in the future at equivalent prices. Have been looking at several pots on tokonamejp’s eBay store as well. Very frustrating that all of the elements required to enjoy a nice cup of tea are becoming more expensive.

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
Very nice shibo @debunix. I noticed that the Etsy page looked pretty idle as well, looking forward to seeing more of yours in the future.

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
@debunix , It most certainly was. I’ve been enjoying trying some of d Matchas different Senchas and have yet to be disappointed.
I have a real love for black walnut, would you have any other pictures of that tea table?

Simple yet expertly executed, throwing porcelain on a wheel is not something just anybody can achieve perfectly.

Re: Your Favorite Sencha Cup
I usually drink sencha in the morning as part of my wake-up and breakfast ritual, and I am looking for hydration as well as the tea experience. I prefer to infuse in some of my medium to larger vessels, 5oz-10oz, and cups sized appropriately to the size of the kyusu/shibo/pot. The Flower of Forgetf...

Re: Your Favorite Sencha Cup
You can check out this thread regarding cup sizes, Does teacup size matter? For Sencha I tend to use porcelain small 40ml, and medium 60ml size cups, but have also used larger 150ml cup in winter to warm the hands. I prefer porcelain overall but also use Japanese clay cups that are part of teaware ...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
Under the influence of the water thread I tested some of my d:Matcha sencha this morning with Walgreens Iceland spring water and found it to bring out a sweetness I have not noticed previously. Not one to waste good leaves, I enjoyed them with this mornings Tamagoyaki. 3rd infusion pictured, as I fo...
Re: WTB Kyusu
Heard they function well but use very standard (normal) clay that is likely industrially processed with various additives to achieve good handibility and appearance. Nothing wrong with that. But if you are looking for pots with special attention paid to clay and also handiwork - you will have to pa...
Re: WTB Kyusu
a deal and a price are different concepts, though. do you have an actual price range in mind (if so, what?), or are you more looking for any quality teapot if it's a good deal? also, what capacity (volume) do you have in mind? Indeed, you are correct- I’m not looking for a good deal on a $800 pot! ...

Re: WTB Kyusu
Yes, should have clarified I was meaning price range. I had initially hoped to come across something used at a good deal, perhaps 50% of new or less.
Re: WTB Kyusu
I’ve not run across these two in the past, thank you for the recommendation. They appear to have some no frills options at a good value available.Thundercleese wrote: ↑Mon Jun 16, 2025 10:38 pmHibiki-An has a range of kyusu made with Tokoname clay for very reasonable prices. Sazen does as well.

Re: Red Clay from the Gold Mines of Sado Island.
Yes, extensively. Oxidation fired shudei from Tokoname has a bright, almost prickly texture to the tea it produces. Mumyoi gives an apparent increase in body and softens the tea similar to reduction fired shudei (real kokudei, not the dyed stuff that is faked). Neither shudei not mumyoi is the only...
