Re: What Green Are You Drinking
Enjoying a wonderful saemidori gyokuro from Thes Du Japon, thick umami with not a hint of bitterness brewed at 4g/40ml, quite disheartening to hear about the recent changes as I really enjoy their tea. ./download/file.php?id=15028 What are the recent changes? TL;DR prices are now ~55+% higher for f...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
Bowl brewing some wakocha, minami sayaka first flush, it is a pretty good tea brewed grandpa style, expected it to be heavy on the astringency brewed this way since it is an assam hybrid (the other half is from the Caucasus apparently), but it was not until the near bottom of the bowl. This is the f...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
Enjoying another Thes Du Japon sencha, fuji-midori from okawa-oma, delicious as well as an aromatic delight, the moment the water hit the leaves I knew I was in for something special. I love these high elevation senchas, haven't been disappointed by one yet, only disappointed is that I didn't get mo...

Re: Teapot from hojo
I see, thank you for the insight bok, deciphering the effects of hojo's clays has been a little confusing (especially with the revisions some such as the akitsu over the years).

Re: Teapot from hojo
Sorry to resurrect a dead thread but has anyone had luck with any of the oxidation mumyois with dancong, probably going to get a joaka anyways but just curious.

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
Mmm. Looks good. How do you find the banko for sencha? I find banko works quite well for a lot of sencha (as well as other Japanese steamed greens like kabusecha and gyokuro), especially the shizu cultivars such as kurasawa or shizu 7132 as both body and aftertaste are improved while astringency is...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
Another Thes Du Japon tea, this time kurasawa cultivar sencha from Tenryu, an excellent use of the notoriously hostile cultivar. Very complex in both aroma and flavor over the infusions, transitioning from fruity and floral, to floral and woodsy, to a creamy dark chocolate like bitterness at the thi...

Re: Korean green tea (nokcha)
Trying to figure how much nokcha to buy from this years teabuy (excited, korean tea is new to me), wondering how long they stay fresh (mainly sejak), and if anyone has tried refrigeration for better preservation like is common with Japanese greens?

Re: Gyokuro recommendations
Masterjeff (curious choice of handle :| ) I went ahead and contacted Kevin for some clarification and will share his reply. I hope my handle doesnt give a poor impression, its just an old nickname a friend gave me since I'd always have the highscore on this one game at the arcade :) Thanks for cont...

Re: Gyokuro recommendations
It’s only early August now. Gyokuro is aged in cool storage 3-6-12 months so typically new iterations are sold after September, into the following year. Reading through this thread and Green Tea forum will have highlights from years past. I have found Gyokuro to be consistent in quality with vendor...
