Re: Yixing
The teapot has a glossy surface on the outside and a matte inside. Speaking of which, I've run into quite a few highly polished entry-level pots lately, some of them among one local tea shop's latest offerings. Is this a trend or is my sample merely biased? Now I know that polished yixing were valu...

Re: The Porcelain Thread
That sign says 光達. Why not 光造? (disclaimer: I know a lot more about calligraphy than about Japanese pottery marks.) I'm guessing B is the factory gaiwan due to it looking higher quality on the print, but I could see how the lighter one could be older too. I just feel modern rice grain stuff I see i...

Re: The Porcelain Thread
I re-remembered these photos when sorting some rice grain stuff for sale. The exposure is unequal, but I couldn't very well fix it without distorting other things. One of these gaiwans is what I believe to have come from the state owned factories (first half of the 1990s at the latest). The other wa...

FS: rice grain ware, vintage and retro
The rice grain porcelain that everyone, their mom, and dog has. I'm selling these because I have too many. Do you? Additional photos in this album. #1 Large gaiwan with red decoration, usable volume about 160 ml. Retro porcelain in the style of the state owned factories, but produced more recently. ...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
I'm currently down with a persistent flu that has infected most of my face including ears and eyes. In this rather sorry state, Farmerleaf's budget Yingpan Shan autumn black has been a blessing. It's warming, bright, and straightforward enough to get the message across to my suffering palate. Also g...

^ Fancy, signed, handmade pots may qualify as works of art (TARIC section XXI, chapter 97). In Finland, this implies a reduced VAT rate (currently 10%) and no duties as far as I'm aware.

Re: Celadon Appreciation
I took the opportunity to get this one (...) My honest impression is that 230$ original price is way too high for something like this. No comment on the actual cup because I never held one, but in Shan kilns' Tmall store, Shan series Fang Hua cups (芳华杯善款) are currently listed for CNY 1480, which is...

@Bok now I see – that would be the "competition set" you suggested above. I never ran into those so I could not make the connection.

Re: CNNP teas and State factory teas
A Yunnan black tea tin, I think a State-design, as for Yunnan black tea the tins had illustrations of tea-pickers instead of geometric designs or illustrations of the brand (Goldfish, etc.). I have two (unfortunately empty) Yunnan Black Tea tins of this type. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/531...

Re: infusion mugs, lidded and or handled cups
I was looking at these the other day. There's a F1 exemplar in the well known catalog scans at teartchat, with a green label barely visible on the lid. The text says "marked Zhongguo Yixing". Interestingly enough, elsewhere in the scans the same bowl and mug are introduced as 試茶具 or tea tasting ware...

Re: Liu Bao recommendations
On a lighter note, what lightly fermented LB would everyone recommend to someone like me, who fondly remembers Three Cranes 35035? This is less a recommendation than a call for help, because I ran out quite a while ago. wave_code mentioned Three Cranes Ye Yun Gu Shu 野韵古树 and China Tea Yuan Ye Da Ye ...

Ethan Kurland veering off topic, but now that you ask, it's a video where a man yoinks a sheep into a car, in reference to a mission in a game, much in this manner: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53047157784_8078e45a70_o.png I spotted the phrase in a tag on a tram stop, and curiosity got the b...

[…] Milk pitchers become tea pitcher etc. This! I always keep an eye out for creamers to use as fair cups. A pity that a person only needs so many. Here's my current favourite in action. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53044762411_ed3e9d73b0_c.jpg Arabia Singapore creamer by multaa , on Flickr ...

Re: Introduce Yourself
Hello there, pleased to join you. I'm old enough to appreciate discussion forums and have contributed to a few. It happens that I descend from a line of tea drinkers in coffee country (Finland). I've been drinking Western-style tea since childhood, and it escalated from there. These days I mostly dr...
